SVS Cylinder and PB13 Ultra Subwoofers

Since 2005 Kent Home Cinema have enjoyed an excellent business relationship with SVS in the USA, now SV Sounds. Since then we have been importing and distributing direct to the customer, initially their highly acclaimed subwoofers - PB10ISD, PB12 Plus & Plus 2, followed by the SB & MT speakers, the unique PC cylinder sub woofer range, the mighty PB13 Ultra Ultras and most recently the extraordinary “room fixing” AS-EQ1 subwoofer equalizer.

Well all good things eventually come to an end as they say! Kent Home Cinema has decided that in order to fully concentrate on our ever increasing custom installation side of the business it is time to hand over SVS sales and servicing to an equally competent company - L-Sound in Norway. L-Sound have been distributing SVS in Europe and Scandinavia as long as we have been covering the UK. L-Sound handle all VAT and taxes throughout their export system – so no problems with customs. Responsibility for warranty cover and spares for existing customers will also transfer to L-Sound.

Obviously, we would like to thank all of our loyal SVS customers, especially the AV Forum members who have supported the products over the years and contributed to many interesting threads on the subject of achieving deep bass and as they say getting “bang for your buck!”

For all SVS enquiries please contact L-Sound - here

Morning all

Thank you all for your pre-orders... I'm in the queue too It'll finish my own home cinema room off nicely.

A lot of you chaps have had the benefit of hearing/ owning one of these beasts in the past ... something that I haven't had the pleasure of. Not sure the wife is convinced but luckily I've got a few months to work on that one

I've just jumped upon the PC-Ultra bandwagon myself, and gone for an SVS speaker package also, using the SCS-01 as mains. Can't wait until September!

Re: SVS Cylinder Subwoofers

Hi Alastair, you mention above the free sub cable pack, however when I placed the order on the website this option wasn't listed for the ultra (in fact it's still not listed for any of the cylinder subs).

Just wondering if this is included how best to get my cable length preference associated with my order or will I be asked when stocks arrive and you arrange delivery? (not a major issue as I have spare cables and SPL meters but never one to say no to free stuff ).

Re: SVS Cylinder Subwoofers

Morning ailean

Thanks for your pre-order.

We will ensure clients are contacted regarding the cable pack and lengths of cables required once we know the subs have arrived in the UK. Rest assured the cable packs and SPL meter will be available with these subs.

I know people won't like me for wishing away the summer, but roll on Sept as my cylinder will also be in the 1st consignment. There is a nice space in my home cinema room waiting for this

Eoin - thanks also for your order

Re: SVS Cylinder Subwoofers

Hi Alastair,

I was planning to buy an SB12+ but I'm being seduced by the dark side - a 20-39 cylinder. Because of my requirements and room size, etc. SVS recommend I go for the 20-39 PCi, but I notice this is not on your list.

Can I obtain one of these from you? If so, what would the price, etc. be?

Many thanks.

Re: SVS Cylinder Subwoofers

Hi Alastair,

I thought the 20-39 PC+ was £590? The PCi is $300 less according to SVS prices, so is it still £590? That seems to be a much poorer deal ($599 US price).

Please could you confirm pricing.

Many thanks.

Re: SVS Cylinder Subwoofers

captainpacific - if you refer to this thread you will see that SVS only arranged for CE Certification on three of the cylinder subs due to the cost involved. These included one PCi and one PC Plus as well as an Ultra so you have a choice of the 25-39 PCi or the 20-39 PC Plus.

The PC Plus has a better driver and more powerful amp as well as three tuneable ports and certainly used to be the sub of choice for most of us in the old days when we could buy directly from the States.

I find av sales pricing spot on ,infact it would cost you more to import these yourself,if you could.
(SVS 25-31PCi £400.00 av sales) if you could import £409
(SVS 20-39PC-Plus £590.00 av sales) if you could import £623
Prices based on £60 delivery cost ,its probably more.
Don't forget the extras worth £78.

Thanks for this Ian. I didn't appreciate that this was only applying to those 3 models - thought they might have been examples of the range. Thanks for clearing this up.

I wanted the 20-39 PCi rather than the 20-39 PC+ because SVS advised me (quite strongly as it happens) to go for the PCi rather than PC+ for my set up - I thought they should know - they make them...??? I will have to ponder my available choice then...

Regarding the CE Certification, doesn't this apply just to the low voltage electronics? I.e. as long as each type of amp is certified it could then be used in any permutation of cylinder for CE purposes? If that was the case, all cylinder versions could be sold in the UK. I can't find any reference for a need to CE certify a cardboard cylinder, etc.

Just a thought - it's not my area of expertise - just reading up on it online.

Hi Alastair,

What is the latest on the ETA of the SVS 25-31PCi and if I was to pre-order one, would I get it not much longer after that date?

Cheers!

Morning

The delay for Europe has been down to CE testing of the three cylinder models, however from the last communication Ian had from the states we may be getting these in advance of the original dates advised by SVS as things are moving forward well on this. Could be sometime in late August/ early September. We are relunctant at this stage to give any definate date until we get a definate shipping date but suggest you get a pre-order in our system as the original batch we have ordered are starting to go fast. We will not require any payment until a delivery date is agreed with you.

If we can be of any further help or you would like to place an order please speak to Ian on 01892 535007

Re: SVS Cylinder Subwoofers

Just got my name down for a 20-39 PC+ , think the Ultra might have been overkill for my garage conversion.

Alistair, can you tell if my order will come in the first batch (as most others seem to have gone for the Ultra) my order number was 4881 on-line - 31/07/07.

Also, I'm guessing (as you've confirmed to others) that the cable/SPL meter pack is added in later. Just wanted to check I hadn't done something wrong from your link

No BASS till september

But I bet it'll be worth the wait

Re: SVS Cylinder Subwoofers
