Unhappy Hifidelio/Sonos System Compatability

I have recently purchased a Hifidelio Pro server as I wanted better quality recording of my CD collection and the ability to utilise my existing Arcam based Hifi.

For the rest of the house I am looking at a Sonos system in 4 zones but on viewing a number of web forums there would seem to be compatability/access problems between the two systems.

My ideal would be to copy all of my existing CDs onto a Buffalo Terabyte NAS (not yet purchased) via my Hifidelio Pro and to then use the NAS as the source for both my Hifidelio and Sonos.

Is this possible at it would appear that you can only back the Hifidelio up via proprietry Hifidelio USB disk and you cannot backup to a NAS??

If not what options do I have?

Any help much appreciated by 'newbie' to digital music systems.

Sell-up and instead go for a Slim Devices Squeezebox/Transporter solution? You trade off some ease of use with these proprietary systems for much greater flexibility with lots of enhancements coming from the user community.

The Arcam Solo & Transporter are a nice match

Just get a Sonos ZP80 and use an offboard DAC. It'll probably sound better than the hifidelio, but certainly as good. Cheaper too, and no compatability issues.

Yes you can access the music folder on your Hifidelio but you will need to be able to use telnet to login to the box and change some settings - look at this thread:

Extracting music file from Hifidelio music server
