Slim Devices Transporter

Anyone got one of these? I have a Squeezebox and I'm pretty impressed with the quality from the analogue outs. It gets close to my RME HDSP 9632.

So that makes me wonder whether the £1000 extra they want for the Transporter is going to be justified? Does it sound 4 figures better? after all it has the same software/display/functionality.

Yep!

It is certainly better on the analogue outputs, I would say the difference is between listening to 320K MP3 and going to lossless. The SB3 is good, but the TP is less congested and has an neutral (even analytic) tone with great dynamics. It really lets you follow each line in a string quartet and rock with Led Zeppelin.

I have mine paired with an Arcam Solo and B&W CM-2. Some peeps may prefer an SB3 connected to a DAC of their choice.

Let your ears decide!
