Re: Logitech Wireless DJ Music System

Depends on how good your HiFi is and how much you will use it.

It's a nice device, but it's a kind of bedroom listening device with a small minisystem, rather than a HiFi solution.

If you can spend a bit more, an SB3 or Roku would be much better.

Logitech obviously like the Squeezebox as they recently bought the company that makes it as they are trying to move more into the prosumer/higher market.

Re: Logitech Wireless DJ Music System

There's an excellent Wiki over at the Slimdevices page: This bit's about setting up a Network, and may help:

http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?NetworkDesign

Most wireless routers will work (although I'd avoid the Pre N ones for the moment).

Can I ask why?

I ended up getting a Belkin Pre N router mainly due to the 40 odd feet and a couple of rooms between the router and the SB3. Results much, much better than my previous 54g router

Maybe I'm overly cautious...I never buy any of these things until they're ratified. They obviously should work, however. Which model number do you use? Could be of help to the OP if he knows you've got it working.

Re: Logitech Wireless DJ Music System

Stuck at work at the moment but will post the model number later this afternoon/ evening.

Wireless strength reported by the SB3 has gone from a very hit and miss 30% or less with my previous router to a consistent 80% + on the Belkin

Regards

Re: Logitech Wireless DJ Music System

Well I have bought a Logitech Wireless DJ due to budget constraints. It seems to tick all the boxes for what I need. I however only paid £89 brand new, muc less than the rrp . Once I get it set up I will let you all know how I get on with it.

Re: Logitech Wireless DJ Music System

Good price I certainly would not spend anymore than that. I think £89 reflects the functionaliy/quality well when you consider the other products on the market. Where did you buy it from?

Re: Logitech Wireless DJ Music System

Good old ebay, a great resource if your savvy.

I will no doubt invest in squeezebox's next year , money is a little tight for gadgets this year due to me recently moving and a lot of decorating etc is still needed. The Logitech will do what I want for the time being, just streaming the mp3's I have on an external HDD to my Hi-Fi (which I am currently trying to use more)

Re: Logitech Wireless DJ Music System

Ok have now got one of these. all is working great. A nice little device.

However I have a problem, for some reason the system is showing some albums twice? I have checked the metafile info using tag and rename, and all 'appears ok' this must be a tag issue as its only with the odd album here and there which is showing a full ablum of songs twice?, but its a little annoying, anyone got any suggestions? I am quite new to all of this tagging business.

Re: Logitech Wireless DJ Music System

Possible duplicate tags sets, can happen, i have seen this and a few tag editors only show one.

Try MP3Tag.

Otherwise, what does it use to serve the files? Does it use UPnP (WMP/Windows Media Connect) or it's own server software? Either way, try purging the library and rebuilding it.

Re: Logitech Wireless DJ Music System

Hi thanks for the reply, it seems that when a file is tagged with both ID3v1 and v2 it is getting duplicates.

just going through deleting tags now, all seems ok.
