Good quality Digital audio player

Hi,

I'm after a digital audio storage device to replace my convential CD Player. Are any of the devices out there upto proper CD HIFI quality?

Cheers

Re: Good quality Digital audio player

The most common form of digital music player is a streamer. Something like the Transporter purports to be a good replacement for a hi end CDP. Looking at the kit in your sig, your used to pretty good CDP performance?!

Re: Good quality Digital audio player

As Matt says! It depends on what you mean by "proper CD HIFI quality", of course... I have a SlimDevices Transporter and I find it excellent. Not cheap though - around £1300. An alternative is to use the much cheaper Squeezebox 3 in conjunction with an external DAC. Visit the slimdevices forums ...

Request are great - serious cash though - and the SB3 performs similarly in terms of SQ for much less.
