Suggestions for a MP3 player that is permanently connected to stereo

My sister boyfriend is very messy and unorgansied, after drinking sessions at the pub we tend to go back to the house and all listen to every cd he has. The problem is that he never puts the cds back in the cases and they get ruined etc.

So I had a idea for a Christmas present of a Ipod that can stay connected to the stereo permanently and he would not have to raid his cds to listen to them.

I was just wondering if there is a MP3 seperate that I could get that is permanently connected to the stereo or shall I get a Ipod and connect that. This would be for home use only as he does not use a portable MP3 player.

Cheers
Colin

Re: Suggestions for a MP3 player that is permanently connected to stereo

This is one of the most talked about topics on these forums right now, have a search for "media streamers" "Audio streamers" etc.

There are quite a few options, depending on your budget. An Ipod can be connected to a stereo, but a streamer is by far the best option. The best 2 are the Sono's and the Squeezebox 3 (apart from the Transporter, but it's well over £1000), but there are other cheaper options which are good, such as the Roku series. The music is stored on a PC and is controlled by and sent to the player thats plugged into a hifi elsewhere in the house.

Have a look at this thread - Audio streaming devices

Then it has to be a Squeezebox 3 for sure then. But beware, once you have tried his you will want one too
