Question Question on wireless media streamers

Hi All,

I am looking for a wireless media streamer to give me internet radio, MP3 and WMA files in the bedroom, and would welcome people's suggestions on 3 points:

1. What streamer would you recommend? Front runner at the moment is the Roku M1000 Soundbridge at around £130, and I don't want to spend much more than that.

2. As I have no stereo in the bedroom at all, and don't want to buy one, I'm looking at using powered speakers instead. Can anyone suggest any which provide reasonable sound at a reasonable price?

3. As a combination of the above 2 questions, can anyone suggest a wireless media streamer with integrated speakers without getting into the realms of £500+ products with built in CD players and FM tuners which seem pretty redundant considering the streaming capabilities in the first place?

Thanks,

Chris.

If you don't want to spend more than £130, the Roku would be my choice. I personally prefer the Squeezebox, especially for internet radio/pandora support, but it is well over budget.

The new Terratec Noxon 2 looks good, but isn't yet released over here:

This can be bought with an add-on speaker module which sits underneath. I think the unit is going to cost around the £150 mark.

If you decide to go for powered speakers, I would recommend the Edirol range, superb speakers for the money (I have two sets).

The only units I know of with built in speakers are the Roku radio and Acoustic Energy Wifi, but I'm afraid I haven't tried either.

Any questions, just ask

Andrew

I bought some Philips MMS321 powered speakers to go with my Squeezebox as they produce a good powerful sound without requiring a separate subwoofer box - they are £59 if you buy on-line at PC World. They also look nice in black and silver next to the Squeezebox 3.
