Linking 4 speakers to one squeezebox

I want to link 2 rooms (bathroom and gym) to one squeezebox and I'm trying to think of the best way to do this.

My origional thinking was to have a squeezebox receiver, a cheap amp and 4 speakers (2 bookshelf for gym & 2 waterproof ceiling mounted for bathroom.)

This would work but I was wondering if there was a way that the amp could be switched on from standby when it received a signal from the squeezebox? If there were some external speaker sockets on the the squeezebox boom then that would have been a solution but I don't think there are.

Anyone got any better ideas? I don't suppose I can just wire up all four speakers to the same amp either?

I use a cheap amp with A/B speaker output for this exact sort of setup with 2 x speakercraft in-wall speakers and 2 x AQ bathroom in-ceiling speakers. I just leave the amp in standby and turn it on with my Harmony remote. I did toy with the idea of getting an amp that turned on by the signal from the SB3 (think a company called Audio Source does them) but went with a cheap Marantz instead.

Thanks, I did some searching but wasn't able to find anyone selling the AudioSource amps in the UK though it is exactly what I'm looking for. It seems like a really obvious feature and I'm supprised that nobody else has implemented this on their amps.

I too run two rooms from my Sqbox.
I have an amp with a Speaker set "A" and "B".
Cheaper to get an old amp and leave it on.

Anyone know a really cheep amp with 2 speaker outputs? Cheapest I have found so far is £129 Pioneer A 209R but I don't really want to spend over £99 on this as it's just a bathroom.

try a NAD 304 or 3130 or 3150....or a Cambridge (not sure of model)
some have Speaker set "A" always on, with an option to switch on "speaker set B", others you can choose all or none options and some let you do this via a remote.
have a look at fleaby.
They sell fro ~ £50 with £15 for p&p.

Hi ya

I posted my setup in another thread... it sounds perfect for you.

The amp can be left on... and uses very little juice
