How to connect a first SB receiver with no controller.

Have taken ownership of my first squeezebox receiver today (ie a duet without the controller.)

Have 2 iphones in the house as well as the squeezbox software for our Pronto TSU9600 remotes, so have no need to buy the controller... or so I thought.

However the manual seems to imply I can only connect the receiver to my network via the controller, and it is just sitting there flashing red.

Please, someone tell me that I can connect it to the network and the squeezebox server (currently only running softsqueeze) without having to buy a controller I don't need!

Many thanks in advance!

Re: How to connect a first SB receiver with no controller.

You can do it, although its nowhere near as easy as having the controller. Have a look at this thread on the slimdevices forum.

Thank you so much for the quick response and link.

I must admit that software is a godsend. It takes a little bit of decoding of the manual I must admit, but once I'd worked my way through the logic, success! Receiver connected and working.

Many thanks.

I'm sure others would appreciate any tips you can offer from your experience.

I've just done it and it took me about 7 mins from unboxing the Receiver

Instructions: https://projects.robinbowes.com/Net-...wiki/WikiStart
Slimforums Thread: Net::UDAP - SqueezeBox Receiver configuration tool - Squeezebox : Community : Forums

Here though is a quick 2 min guide for windows users who have DHCP and the receiver will be wired

1. download and run Windows Config Tool: http://slim2lirc.myown.mailcan.com/udap_shell_1_0_0.exe
2. Type the following at the prompts:

discover
conf 1
set interface=1 lan_ip_mode=1 squeezecenter_address=a.b.c.d
save_data
reset

(a.b.c.d is the ip address of your squeezecenter)

It really was that easy. It's a little more involved if you want wifi set-up but this links to example of other installations https://projects.robinbowes.com/Net-...ki/SampleUsage
