Squeezebox or iPod touch?

Hi guys,

Always liked the look of the Squeezbox - the one that Logitech did.

I also like the iPod touch for the simple reason that, I use iTunes already and like the thought of having uncompressed music in my car and in my room when I can't be bothered with using my CD Player.

I know you can use the iPod touch as a remote control for iTunes on the PC, which would be great as it would then mean I have no need to have my TV on.

BUT - and here is the killer, the PC has quite a noisey graphics card in it, and with the hard drive etc I can hear it rumbling most of the time anyway.

I have a NAS drive and wonder if the Squeezebox devices can be used with these?

The iPod touch idea seems simpler to me at the moment.

No uncompressed music on iPod, isn't it?

What NAS do you have? There are a number that support Squeezebox but it has to be somewhat powerful (especially WRT RAM).

ALAC? OK, makes sense. I always thought it becomes transcoded, OTOH iPhone has the codec since 3.0 so they can as well use it
