Having problems with squeezeserver album covers.

Can anyone give some advice.
I am currently working through our cd collection, turning them all into flacs in preparation for a squeezeplayer solution for the house.

For every album I have ripped using EAC, I then run the folder through mp3tag in order to check the tags and input the album art.

For every cd I have used the 'utils' button to extract the cover, and saved it as a jpeg using the title cover.jpg in the same folder as the flacs. (1 folder for each cd) 300 x 300 or thereabouts in size.

After doing a batch, I run up the Squeezebox server, and scan for new music which correctly adds everything to my library. The library is complete with no cd's missing.

So why, given I do exactly the same thing for every cd, is the album art only appearing for about 1/4 of the albums?

If I click on an album with missing artwork, and bring up the list of tracks, all the tracks have the correct image. it's just not pulling up the image at album level.

Any ideas for solutions gratefully received!

Hmm, I've just done the same as you in preparation for getting a Touch sometime soon......maybe!

I've got a mix of folders, some with a file called "folder.jpg" and some without - but all have the artwork embeded as part of the ID3 tag.

Have you checked that the cover.jpg file in those albums that don't show is fine and not corrupted at all?

Another option you could try is to download "squeezeplay" and see if that finds all the album art as I find the squeezebox server interface horrible to use!

Have you tried doing a 'clear library and rescan' ? For me this was the only way to 100% display all artwork, something related to cache I believe

Thanks for that, covers now behaving themselves....

Of course the Sonos users would argue that their system would just 'get it right' in the first place, and they're probably correct!

Anyway, I need the integration with my Pronto remotes, so thanks for solving this teething problem.

Nah, a Sonos system would predict a failure to read album art on 15 Dec at 11:24.

Re: Having problems with squeezeserver album covers.

For future reference, the culprit was probably your webbrowser. Next time try clearing you browser cache. AV programs can cause issues with scanning too.

Re: Having problems with squeezeserver album covers.

I'll bear that in mind Auto.

As a 'Touch' product tester, do you have any information on the expected release date? While many places are still saying December, I've seen one or two comments implying it has been put back to Spring...

I have no idea when the exact release date will be, no one on the beta test does. My best guess is somewhere in between the two. It posible it might reach some people late dec, but I think most people won't see one until the new year. But I really don't know tbh.
