Squeezebox Duet and Multi Channels

I'm still waiting for my Squeezebox to arrive as apparently there seems to be a bit of a shortage at the moment...

Anyway, I plan to connect it to my Onkyo 806 and use the amp's DAC to play my flac CD library as I assume it will be better than the duet's DAC and will support higher bit and sample rates.

What I was wondering was whether the the duet will support the streaming of multi-channel audio as well as i would like to rip and stream my DVD-Audio albums as well. Given that the amp will be doing the decoding I assume that all the Duet has to do is uncompress the flac or wav (?) to PCm and pass it to the amp.

The same applies to the DTS tracks from my live DVDs.

It may be, it may not. The limit of 48kHz/24bit on the Duet Receiver is a CPU limit, not the internal DAC. That limit stays even with an external DAC.

There's a Squeezebox Wiki on ripping and playing multi-channel DTS etc -http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Play_DVD_Tracks

OK, I didn't realise that. The one DVD-A I have tried ripping is actually only 24bit/48kHz so it should play that; I tried to play the wav file I created with DVD Audio Explorer on my PS3 which is supposed to handle more than 24/48but it didn't work so I started to question whether the Duet would also have a problem with it, or ideally the flac equivalent.

I'll have a look at the thread you mentioned.

If the rip is OK it should work. I ripped a number of DVD-As to flac and it works fine with my SBs.
