squeezebox boom connection issues to server

So I finally got the Boom, really nice, great sound etc! Good to listen to radio again without the computer.

Downloaded Squeeze server, but grrr, boom and server won't talk to each other!!

I've added the various exceptions to my router for port forwarding and with my firewall on the computer and have also manually added my computer's ip address on the boom, but they just won't connect and talk to each other.

am i missing something?

Re: squeezebox boom connection issues to server

Is the server working properly on your PC but simply won't see the Boom.
That is, if you go to players from the web control you can't find the Boom. Whenever I have this problem I resolve it by using the buttons on the Boom. Have you perhaps not added the player?

Hi

Server is working fine (or so it says). Yes, also been to web control and the server can't see the boom.

At the Boom level I have tried to add the Boom, but the Boom keeps on saying like "server not found". I've even tried adding the ip address of my computer manually, but it is not registering.

Some further information:

I'm running Windows 7, Squeeze Server 7.4.1 (I presume that is the newest). I connect my computer to the internet via Homeplug and my router is a D-Link Dir 655.

My Boom has no problems connecting to the internet via wireless and I'm able to log onto mysqueezebox.com no problems.

Squeeze Server is showing that it is connected and all the ports are "OK" in the control panel and is showing the ip address of my computer: 192.168.0.19x

When I try connecting my Boom to the Squeeze Center I get an error message along the lines of no server can be found. I also try tapping in the ip address of my computer as above. BTW the ip address of the Boom shows as 192.168.0.19y, so they are in the same network.

I've port forwarded the Squeeze Server ports (as provided in the manual) and have tried the ip addresses of both the computer and the Boom. Also I've added exceptions to my software firewall for the Squeeze Server ports.

However am still not having any luck. Is there anything I'm missing here, or do I need to provide more information.

Squeebox boom connection problems!

Hi there! I noticed that you had recently posted about your problems connecting your SB to the SS. I wondered whether you had managed to resolve your problem and if so, if you could provide me with any help! I have been having similar problems to you in that my SB is able to connect without any problem to Internet Radio but it just doesn't seem to be able to find my SS so that I can access music on my laptop despite its status showing as running on my computer and all inputs seem correct.

I am baffled and am now awaiting a response from Logitech but wondered whether you have any info in the meantime!!??

Thanks!

Hi

Sorry, I solved the issue (sort of), basically my fault, to do with the router.

My router allows for a guest wifi zone, which I use so I don't have to tap in a long WPA password for certain of my devices. I had used this for the Boom as well, however this guest wifi zone isn't on the same network as my other devices, hence it could not talk to my computer and therefore the SS.

Now however my firewall is causing issues, but that is pretty straightforward to sort out.
