Wife threw away Squeezebox Boom remote

Anyone know where I can get a replacement remote control for my Squeezebox Boom?

Logitech USA seems to sell them but can't find anything in the UK.

Love the forums, BTW, long-standing lurker.

Edit: Not averse to getting a programmable device (the original remote is junk anyway), except they all seem so expensive.

Re: Wife threw away Squeezebox Boom remote

The Harmony 555 might be a not too expensive solution. Another idea, and considerably more expensive, would be to get the Squeezebox duet. The duet's controller is compatible with every Squeezebox device and later on you could move the Boom to the bedroom and add speakers to the duet in the living room.

Dunno it it helps, but the Boom works fine with the 'candy-bar' remote for the Classic/Transporter era players.

Duet Controller can be bought off Amazon, but for £195; an iPod Touch/Ipeng combintation looks better VfM!

Re: Wife threw away Squeezebox Boom remote

If you find out the code set (have a look at wiki.slimdevices.com) any cheap universal remote should do.
But there is a Logitech Site that sells the Boom remote as an accessory!

Re: Wife threw away Squeezebox Boom remote

Thanks for all the responses, much appreciated.

On ripcaster.co.uk, from the given link I see "Slim Devices Remote Control" at £28.99 - if this is the correct product then it doesn't seem worth paying that much for this device.

Can't find the Logitech site selling accessories - I did find it on the US site the other day but can't even find that now.

Candybar remote from the Classic could be an option - will try an auction site.

Harmony 555 I am seeing for just north of £50.

I only paid £149 delivered for the whole shebang! (A while ago at Amazon.) Getting more cross with the missus...

Maybe an all-in-one off an auction site could be the answer.

LOL. Most peeps just report her indoors can't understand network players, not actively prevent using them.

Squeezebox will also operate from a JVC DVD remote.

Re: Wife threw away Squeezebox Boom remote

I think I may get a Sony RM-VL600T, which seem abundantly available on a popular auction site for less than £20. A bit bulkier than I would like but seems like good value.

If you're still looking, there was a controller going here: http://www.avforums.com/forums/home-...brand-new.html Might be worth a haggle!!!

Re: Wife threw away Squeezebox Boom remote

I would second the iPeng solution, if you already have an iPod touch or Iphone. For less than $10, you can't go wrong

This seems a little expensive but now he is selling the whole duet package which I think it's better. You might find some use for the receiver in the future but I think more than 150£ for a second-hand unit seems a lot.

Re: Wife threw away Squeezebox Boom remote

I like the ipeng idea but it's disappointing there are no WinMo or Symbian ports. I currently don't have a "smartphone" of any description but have been thinking of getting a Nokia E series.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Re: Wife threw away Squeezebox Boom remote

The web interface can be controlled by any browser enabled WiFi device. There's a skin for the Nokia 770/N800/N810 & a Windows Mobile app here.
