Audio/Video streaming - multiple zones using DLNA, Airport Express, iphone remote etc

Looking for thoughts on a decent setup for the following.

Currently I have a Server running Vista in the kitchen with a wall mounted screen and hard wired to ceiling speakers in the same room.
I'm looking at purchasing a Sony Bravia DLNA compliant LCD TV for the lounge so I can stream media from the PC in the kitchen.
Additionally I have two other rooms with ceiling speakers hardwired to a central point under the stairs. This also is where the Gigabit hub is located which supplies the kitchen/lounge with wired broadband (I also have wireless-n).

Since I use Itunes a lot I was initially looking at having two airport express units hardwired to the hub under the stairs and the speakers so I could pump audio into the two rooms with ceiling speakers and also control the audio playing and the zones remotely with two Iphones we have.

The major downside with this is that we use Iplayer a lot in the kitchen but want to pump this through the rest of the house. Can't do that with Airport/Itunes.

I was then thinking if its possible using DLNA and some compatible media receivers or renderers. This means I could watch Iplayer on the new Sony DLNA LCD TV and run a DLNA compatible server such as TwonkyMedia in the kitchen.

Are there any Airport type devices which support DLNA I could use to supply the two other audio zones? In addition could I control these remotely from an Iphone?

Also what DLNA server software would allow me to stream Iplayer audio and content like Youtube but be controlled remotely either by the TV or Iphones?

Re: Audio/Video streaming - multiple zones using DLNA, Airport Express, iphone remote

Do separate solutions for Audio and Video.
The combination will not make you happy.
DLNA is fine for accessing data so will work ok for video but sucks for Audio.

Use Squeezebox or Sonos for Audio... Hmm. iPlayer huh... Ok: use Squeezebox for Audio.
(to be fair: someone else will have to answer for iPlayer on Sonos, it doesn't work over here in Germany but that probably doesn't mean anything)

Airfoil Rogue Amoeba | Airfoil for Mac: Send Any Audio To The AirPort Express

will let you run any audio through Airport Expresses.
