Please help me get set up.....

Guys/Girls,

I'm after a bit of help, we have just purchased a small 1900's semi in need of quite a bit of work. We are looking to install some sort of multiroom/media streaming system.

Ideally we want a speaker in the following rooms - Master bedroom, bathroom, lounge, kitchen & maybe somewhere on the stairs.

The ability to have different tracks on in different rooms would be nice but isn't essential.

I have no idea when it comes to technology, I'm very confident on the installation side but need help choosing what I need.

All the music we have is on my macbook & imac so would like to use one of these as the library.

Wanting ceiling mounted speakers maybe a wallbar for the stairs,

What else do I need, do I need an amp for each speaker?? Am I best going wireless/wired???

Budget wise no more than £1000 really.

Sorry for the big ask and my lack of techo knowledge.

Thats a tight budget for that many rooms, especially with speakers too. For that money, you would need to be looking at something like a Squeezebox setup. Yes you would need an AMP for each set of speakers, or active/powered speakers - or you could go for something like this Connected Acoustic - Streaming Audio Systems > Connected Acoustic SRi Amplifier (has a squeezebox receiver built in)

To control them you would need at least one Squeezebox Controller (bargain price of £120 at eBuyer right now) or iPhone/iPod touch with a controller App like iPeng.

For the kitchen and Bathroom, you could look at getting a Squeezebox Boom or Squeezebox Radio, which are more than adequate for small non-critical listening room, which would free up more money for you main rooms.

Some retailers might give you a discount for that many rooms when bought together.

Re: Please help me get set up.....

Thanks for the advice, will check out the squeezebox range.

If I were to get something like this Samsung HT-X810R - 300 Watt Soundbar - HDMI Home Cinema: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

would I be able to connect it through something like the squeezebox/sonos system as well as using it for the tv/dvd?!?

It might be a good option for the lounge to compliment the tv and double up for audio too if its possibe. Like the look of it too.
