New to SONOS ...need some help

Hi ya streamers
I am planning my sonos system and have some questions i can't get answered. I am planning on getting the 250 pack which comes with a ZP120 and a zp90.....I also plan on getting a yamaha 7.1 av receiver. My questions are these....
Can I use the 90 as an aux input to the yammie and play to both the yammie zones..?
Does the 120 really come with 4 speaker support......and does it play both zones at the same time ?

thanks for your help..

cheers mark

Hiya, yep you can use the ZP90 as an aux input to the receiver. I have the same set up with an Onkyo. I would guess you can play it to both zones too.

You can run 4 speakers from the 120 but not in a 2 zone configuration. They all play at the same time (2 speakers to the left posts, 2 to the right posts) and aren't switchable.

Welcome to AV Forums!

Most AV receivers seem only to allow analogue audio to play in Z2/Z3 so check your AVR manual. If this is the case then you can connect your ZP90 either as analogue only or have digital for the main zone and analogue for Z2 - this second option uses two separate source inputs for digital and analogue so be sure to choose the right option when listening.

The Sonos ZP120 has only a single pair of speaker outs, and therefore is designed to be connected to one pair of speakers. If you want to connect 2 pairts you can, and both will be driven simultaneously. If you want to switch between the 2 pairs you will need a speaker switch such as the QED SS20.

Re: New to SONOS ...need some help

You can connect 2 pairs of 8 Ohm Spks to a ZP100 or ZP120 - though the sound level is the same at both pairs; https://sonos.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/s...i=&p_topview=1

Where you want to have two pairs of Spks plus the ability to (semi) independently adjust volume you require a suitable Spk switch + rotary volume control - the QED Transmatch products being the ideal solution.
