Any good HD HDTV Recorder + Streaming box?

Hi,

Atm I have got a new Ellion HMR350 for recording SD materials out of my broadband digital-tv box (does not have HD)

But after playing around with the box for less than a week im really not happy about the performance and all other glitches:

* The filebrowser is the worst peace of crap i ever seen, my C64 has a bigger filebrowser.. Why, why, why do they let preview windows be bigger than the actual filebrowser window ???

* Freezes - A nice way of freeze the box is to change resolution while watching the A/V in (RGB) from a component destination. The pictures still shows but the box freezes up until you have to manually switch it off/on.

* Does not work with H.264 materials "out of the box". As I'm on a mac I can't use their Transcoder crap without booting into Windows - Where it freezes most of it times anyways.

* No Digital in. Really gets me angry as I get DD 5.1 from my Digital-TV box, that I have to pass-trough separately to my Amplifier. Does not work that well with time-shift....

* Sluggish !!

So.. Is there any other box out there, that could replace my box (I can still return it) that has

* HD IN (Component and optical, Would be nice, not a must)
* Really good File-Browser
* Harddrive
* HD out (Component + HDMI) - 1080p would be nice to.
* Plays HD formats (out of the box) H.264, mkv
* Fast Ethernet or 108M wi-fi

Anyone knows a box that would actual work ? ;-)

Re: Any good HD HDTV Recorder + Streaming box?

The Tvix 6500a has a HDTV tuner which can record HD stuff but not in the uk as we don't broadcast it, but it does do eveything else on the list as does a Popcorn Hour A110

Home > Products > TVIX HD M-6500A

Welcome To Popcorn Hour

There isn't anything on the market that will record HD via hdmi ie sky hd, blu ray etc.

Thx for your reply.
I know there are plenty of Media Players that do HD playback, but i want to be able to record video as well. I'm happy with component as input for HD recording. Ellion has one, but i guess it suffers from the same bad software/firmware like mine does.

Acording to the site there is no component input only composite, you can't record HD on composite thats just video i thought?

And what HD source are you trying to record?

The 350 can, of course only record SD (As i said in my first post). But they are releasing a new player that will do 720p recordings from a component source, with optical in for audio. But that does not help me as their firmware would the the same crap as the rest of the players has i guess

I think you'll find there isn't anything that records in HD at the moment, if there was we would all be shouting about it.
