Portable Network Music Player?

Hi,

I was thiking about buying an Apple Hifi or maybe the Bose version of the same.

But then I thought this means I need to have an ipod, which I do, but it tends to stay in my car, for my living room I am streaming via firefly media server and thus can play all my music in my living room.

Now I was wondering is there such a thing like apple hifi, meaning a box with speakers, pretty portable so I can move it around to different rooms, but instead of having an ipod it takes a stream of my home network. It does not have to be fantastic quality, but at the same time I don't want something that sounds awful either.

Thanks for any help, I will keep searcing the net also for the answer.

Re: Portable Network Music Player?

I think I found the answer after some searching.

So there a company called Sonis with a complete solution but its pricey

There the phillips music station, again a little pricey and you need to save your music on the master unit (80Gb) i wanted single source which was my home PC. Again pretty pricey considering.

Sony unit, but customer reviews are pretty awful, I don't think I would even bother trying it.

The winner for me by a mile from research:-

From reviews everyone seems to think its easy to use, connects to many media servers, and people have also mentioned the sound quality to be good.

I think I will try this out. The weird thing on Roku website its says £299, expansys have got it at £170 and amazon have got it at £137. Just ordered one, will leave some comments after I set it up.

The roku is OK, but I think you will find the Squeezebox 3 much, much, better. There is a fourm dedicated to these here you know, full of discussion on Sono's, Roku, SB3... http://www.avforums.com/forums/forum...prune=-1&f=333
