There is no A800 but yes, you can connect an external USB DVD-ROM to the A2xx & A300 series players. Exactly which drives work I do not know but I know some users have done this.

Managed to fix my problem. Plugged a USB drive in and NMT wizard appeared. Was then able to select and format my internal HDD! Odd but it seems to have worked. Currently copying some media to it. Next stop, YAMJ!

Are you using the NMJ?

If so you can use my NMJToolbox, right click on the entry and select 'Mark as Watched'.

You can also just play a second of the episode in NMJ and it will marked it as watched.

having problems with the a300 and wanted to find out if anyone else is having a simular problem.

Problem 1

Background: my dvds are recorded in the VIDEO_TS RIPED FORMAT. They are installed in an external drive connected to my windows 7 computer. The files are named such as western or sifi.

for example i have a file called westerns in that file i have folders that are named for the movie they contain, and in the folder i have the VIDEO_TS DATA.

when i brows the file western from my a300 i can see the folders of the movies. when i select the movie i can scan the data base and see the movie art work and info, and can select the correct jpeg and download.

when you look at the western folder on the pc you see the jep and when you select the folder from the a300 you see the art work also no problems.

The problem occures when you creat a jukebox (nmj). I go to my a300 and create a jukebox and it scans the files in the folder example western. once the scan is completed i go to the jb and see the art work it selected . For movies that it could not find art work or if the art work is incorrect i to to the edit in JB and unlkie the edit in the brows mode the name of the movie does not appear ??? when i type in the movie name it goes out on the network and it does find the correct art work. when i attempt to download the correct art it goes into a download and i wait and wait and wait it then comes back to me and tells me it was unable to download it.

ive tested this process and find that if you have a movie that is ripped in the iso format it works fine. If however you have a movie in the VIDEO_TS format it fails every time.

the movies always play just find and you get full dvd menues when played . Im just one of those that wants my data base correct and canot edit its errors.

please let me know if anyone that has a a300 has the same problem.

contacted the popcorn hour tech support and they said they think it may be a bug . Well its a bug or i have a problem with my computer.

i find that the a300 is hanging up and cannot find my network at times.

When the problem occures i find that i cannot connect to my computer from the a300 to my windows 7 computer.

So far the only way to solve the problem is to reboot my computer that always fixes the problem.

The problem occures when i am updateing my a300 JB and at the same time doing things on my computer. It looks like the a300 is unable to get access to the computer and locks up . I understand that their may be a conflect because im playing a game at the time but my issue is whether their is a fix other than rebooting my computer . Ive unpluged the cat 5 cable to the a300 powered it off noting solves the problem other than rebooting the computer. wanted to find out if anyone has a solution to this problem.

Lets look at the first problem first

Can you post a few of your movie file names please - the ones nmj can't find the artwork for

Also - can you confirm you are running with the latest firmware

not sure if you understand what the issue is.

When im in the jukebox i select the movie and type in the name of the move in the edit window. the a300 goes out on the internet and finds the movie info including the art work. when i try to click the download it will not bring in the art for the jpeg.

Their is no issue with it finding the art work the above takes place on all my movies and i have many.

when you go through the same procedure in the browse mode not using the nmj the edit again finds the movie and downloads it.

Again the edit does not work on the jukebox nmj at all. even movies where the nuj found the art work i cannot edit it .

ive tried this on many movies and the edit for VIDEO_TS movies in nmj does not work.. The edit for the same movies using the browser edit always works.

you Can however edit in the nmj movies ISO or AVI no problem.

Do you have VIDEO_TS riped dvd's and are you able to edit them using the Jukebox nmj editor????????

The main reason I went for the PCH was because of the built in jukebox in comparison to the WD

I would say picture and sound wise there's not much in it (except the WD doesnt do DTS-HD and the PCH does)

Also, the NMT forums are great support for the PCH and recently I've started using YAMJ on the PCH which is pretty cool

Started to get a bit fed up with the WD fw updates as it was a bit of a lottery as to what would be fixed vs what would be broken

No it is just re-writing header information - no conversion of video/audio.

Yes, simply set framerate in the settings to what your TV supports. Usually (in Europe) set it to PAL/NTSC/24P and it will auto switch.

Don't leave the Video output on auto, set it to what your TVis natively, eg 1080P50. Auto is just for a fallback mode, if left on Auto you may hit juddering on some videos.

Added facility to auto fix albums where the NMJ scanner places every track in its own album (incorrectly, usually FLAC files). See below for details.

Fixed:
When adding a TV show that has multiple results and some of them have never been aired, the details returned sometimes are for a different show.

Note: I have added the facility to the right click menu of the album. It will only do one disc at a time. It will group ALL tracks that have the same album title and reside in the sme folder as the tracks in the album that you right click on. I did it this way so that multi CD albums would only group the tracks in the same disc folder.

EG.

I have the Ministry of sound which is a 3 CD album and my folders are like this:

.......Track 1
.......Track 2
.......Track 3 etc..
...CD2
.......Track 1
.......Track 2
.......Track 3 etc..

.......Track 1
.......Track 2
