Sumvision Cyclone Micro 2 PLUS!! NEW UPDATED PLAYER

I have just found the new Sumvision Cyclone Micro 2 PLUS that can play compressed header files and more formats like the ISO DVD. Amazing 5.1 surround sound Supports DTS and AC3 pass through via coaxial port.

It is quite an improvement on the normal Micro 2. From what I can gather so far:

WHAT'S NEW IN THE SUMVISION CYCLONE MICRO 2 PLUS

It has the latest updated firmware with a better menu system.

Updated remote that is bigger, more responsive with more control features than the original.

Supports DTS and AC3 pass through via coaxial port.

Supports Dolby Digital.

I usually use this site to find the cheapest stuff on the net if its any help:

Sumvision Cyclone Micro 2 !!!PLUS!!! Media Player - £28.95 delivered @ Impact Computers - HotUKDeals

Impact Computers is a great site with the full range of Sumvision players. Great support and seems to be a UK seller.

I'm going to sell my WD TV mini and buy on of these. Looks great for the money and supports more formats than my WD TV mini.

My sister has the non plus version and the remote is terrible. Does anybody know what improvements have been made to the remote on this non plus version?

Yes, Coaxial output so you need a phono digital input on your amp.

Nice onew jaws99. I didn't know you can get product info from there.

BTW, if you want something a little bigger with a fitted internal hard drive . You can get the Sumvision Cyclone Primus with fitted 500GB Hard drive, cheapest here:

http://stormmultimediatechnologies.c...jln1pqgcbgg394

Have used Storm Multimedia several times. Fast delivery and good support.

Now, can I get some rep and thanks

Anyone know if this will have enough power to run an external 2.5" USB Hard Drive? The external Hard Drive I have takes it's power from the USB port

I just ordered last night and just realized the micro 2 can play DTS and micro2+ does not have DTS in the audio type from the spec... does it mean it won't decode DTS vai HDMI ???? =(

I also ordered through impact computers, i got paypal confirmation.

I ordered one of these yesterday from Impact Computers, the money's been taken out but I've not had a single confirmation email from them. Anyone know if this is normal?

Hey niscire you don't have to worry about the DTS.

Got mine over the weekend and was putting it through it's paces. It had no problem playing DTS.

Well chuffed with it.

No judder on 23.976 fps movies when in 1080p24 output mode. Can see pull-down judder when in 60 fps and even more judder in 50 fps.

You can match the output frame rate manually dependent on source which is good - minimises judder.

I have ordered from Impact Computers lots of times over the years so don't worry.

They do usually send a confirmation email. Are you sure you typed your email correctly. Having said that, you usually recieve the goods in a day or two anyway.

I received it Friday, it did take a little longer than expected and this was the first time I've bought anything without a confirmation email but it's arrived just in time for fathers day so I'm happy

Tried it out before giving it to my dad and I'm very impressed, played everything I tried ( mostly mkv's) the menus was nice and simple and quite quick for a cheap unit like this, the remote is again very good for a cheap unit. My only slight niggle with it is the USB port is on the front along with the IR sensor which makes it a little awkward. All in all it's an amazing player for under £30

Has anyone tried getting DTS from a dvd ISO file yet ? A comment on the other thread suggests that this gets downmixed to stereo.

And if this is the case, how are sumvision for firmware updates - any chance of this getting fixed anytime soon ?

I think you need to use and external hard drive which has its own power source.

Quite fancy this one for the bedroom. Scan is very close to me so I've emailed them to see when they are likely to stock and at what price. Given that it's potentially free delivery for us members I shall update with their response.

Scan.co.uk: Cyclone Micro v2 Media Player SD & USB - sumvision Media player

Doesn't say it's PLUS, do they do the + ?

If it doesn't say Plus, then its definitely the older version. Businesses love to oversell even the smallest change in features. They are not gonna miss a trick and sell a new version as the old.

There are many other reputable sites that sell the plus with free delivery and cheaper unit price.

Only issue I've found is that DVD iso's downmix to stereo.
Make sure you've changed the audio setting Spdif-Raw.

Also check what audio your files actually have. Only 5.1 DTS & DD will be bitstreamed. Other tracks like 5.1 AAC etc get downmixed to stereo.

I managed to set the audio to spdif-raw, then use the HDMI to TV for video and Coxial to Amp for DTS surround, the sound is good. However, I can't manage to have both video and audio through HDMI to my amp because once I set it to SPDIF-raw or PCM, there is no sound through the hdmi ... If I keep the setting to Audio - Normal, even DTS thru hdmi will downmix to stereo... there is no choice or I just don't know how to do it ...
