Mmm, doesn't look good, apparently it ships with v0.9 which is like the PC version so that's the one to stick to, I won't be updating until they fix 1.x

More on the interface

Well I'm glad for once that we got something later than the Americans. After reading through some of the threads I'm deffo gonna wait till things get sorted or I get another media streamer.Serves them right for ripping the rest of the other countries of with such high prices.

Yup seems Boxee royally screwed up their launch, unbelievable I thought they would be the ones with the least to go wrong but well they somehow managed it.

Pretty much what HummerUK said, the new UI is bad compared to the older one and its more awkward to access your own content. Lots of various bugs seem to be affecting users too from network buffering to media compatibility.

Very dissapointed overall the Box should have undergone much more testing before launch, the only good news is that its largely all software problems.

I haven't canceled my order as I'm still hoping Boxee can turn this around or XBMC team can work some magic later on.

Well it looks like the Boxee is going under much more testing..The American owners are the new beta testers.. But like you said it is a software issue and hopefully easy to sort out.

Indeed, some of the feedback at Amazon US is quite interesting...

Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Boxee Box by D-Link

Seems the unit has issues with 5Ghz 'n' wireless e.g. does not work

A complied list of whats gone wrong is here, so surprising they messed up after all this time and how long they've been working on the box, they really did rush it out the door.

I suppose they wasted a lot of that time porting to Arm only to have the Tegra 2 SoC turn out to be not good enough.

How can they have fecked it up so much in a short space of time. Sounds like a lot are gonna be sending back the Boxee Box which I'm sure Amazon will be happy about..not.After reading so many negative reviews about it I should mark it up as a close call and not having the hassle of sending it back myself or being £200 out of pocket.

What can we expect in the UK? - boxee :: forums

I'm still gonna get it and keep the v0.9 software that it ships with

Well for once in my life, I held back buying this and now very glad I did. No doubt it will come good, but I'm more than happy with my Wdtv now I've finally got it to my liking.

Well, having read the new Boxee forum it does seem like the launch could have gone a little smoother!

Does anyone have any screenshots of the new interface, there seems to be complaints that it has changed a fair bit since the beta.

Will keep an eye on this over the next few weeks, am sure things will smooth themselves out (hopefully!)

It does seem like the software wasn't fully tested in the actual box before release.

The videos on You Tube of videos failing to play and stuttering of the menu system seem to be obvious problems that should not be happening.

It's also not as if this is a cheap media player, for the price people are paying it should just work!

Also, read a comment on the XBMC website that when it loads the artwork and movie description it pulls the info from the Internet each and every time your do it.... that can't surely be right.

That depends a bit upon what you want the product to do.

I am mainly interested at looking at my own movies, music and TV programs and perhaps my online snaps at flickr

For this the new Netgear seems of interest.

See Any Netgear NTV550 owners out there? for detail.

EDIT: Just cancelled my Boxee order also.

This cock up is about as big as they come. The player is delayed by a month and when it arrives theres a substantial chance that it's going to be crap and not meet any expectations. Given that ALL my media is local, I suspect this things gonna thoroughly dissapoint. Pity there isn't a GOOD alternative (something with a nice interface, that's automated and plays everything) surely those requirements aren't that high.

A lot of the UK websites that were to start selling it today now say 22nd November.

Websites, including DLinks tend to show the old menus which everyone grew up with and was used to

To be fair to boxee, if you go on avsforums in america they are constantly on the forums asking for everybody's feedback, and trying to eradicate all the problems encountered.

I still will be buying one, as soon as the problems are fixed. Which hopefully will be very soon according to them.

I can certainly see why the UK launch has been pushed back given the problems they have.

I'm hoping they see the light in the mistake of unleashing a new GUI onto unsuspecting customers given expectations of what they were buying but I have a feeling this is one area they aren't going to back down from though they have said they are working on a fix to making browsing local content more accessible with the 1.0 GUI.

Well thats good news at least that they are tackling the problems & going to restore some elements of the 0.9 UI, but rather disappointed that they are sticking to the 1.0 GUI look & not fully restoring the 0.9 UI though my gut feeling was that was always going to be the case, Avner the head of Boxee loves it for some reason.
