I own a Popcorn Hour A110 and am successfully streaming DVD RIPS to it via a 200mbps homeplug network.

I purchased the PCH A110 because it was - amongst other things - able to stream HD 1080p content. If I recall correctly, reviews I'd read suggested that although the A110 only used a 100mbps Ethernet port, that in fact you could stream full HD as long as you wired it directly to your source I.e. you used a wired network.

To test this theory I ran CAT 6 Ethernet cable from my NAS upstairs to my Popcorn Hour A110 in the living room and tried to play a HD movie file (MKV format). After about 8-10 seconds the picture starts to stutter and audio is lost.

So, unless I'm missing something, the PCH's Ethernet port at 100mbps is just too slow to stream full HD content contrary to my initial understanding.

Is this so? Or have I done something wrong?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Something is wrong - 1080p over wired works perfectly on the A110. 100mb ethernet is around double the speed needed for full HD files - not sure I can tell you what it is on your setup but I can tell you to keep trying.

Can I take it that you've managed to stream full 1080p via a wired Ethernet connection?

Do you use SMB or NFS?

I originally used SMB, but when I got my NAS and heard that it was better to use NFS for HD streaming, then I switched to NFS. I assume if I did not use the correct NFS setup parameters on the A110 I would not get anything. So, I can only assume that I have correctly setup NFS.

Perhaps I should revert to SMB and give that a try?

Can't think what else I could've done wrong.

Any firther suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.
