Hd content not seen by wdtv live over network but works find from usb stick

I have just upgraded to LIVE and i have connected it to my router and i can stream/play the videos in my video file. i can also play my music. however i cannot see my HD content. MKV and such like.

yet when i put the content on a memory stick the WDTV LIVE plays it fine.

I'll be a little upset if this is not the case as i am planning to buy a networking hard drive to stream mostly HD films around my house.

any ideas?

Also i have a problem with the networking section as it asks for a user name and password...

i have had it working wirelessly to and it plays itunes content no problem but it just will not see my hd files.

please help i dont fancy telling the mrs another media player is being delivered as i manily have hd/mkv/1080p content these days

Lewt

The reason it asks for a user/pass is because there is security on your network share.

Either disable password protected sharing and enable guest account access on your computer or in the WDTV Live go into the Network settings menu and enabled the auto login to network share feature.

As for not seeing the MKV files make sure your firmware is up to date use the built in checker to see if there is an update I recall someone else having a similar problem should see MKV files over SMB network share.

However if your using a DLNA server to stream media then that server needs to support MKV to stream it.
