WDTV Live Networking Question...

Hi . I know there are millions of topics on this but I couldn't find any answers to my specific question, so here goes.

I have a WDTV Live that is connected via an ethernet port to my SKY modem/router which i think is a Belkin? Anyway, I can access Youtube content etc just fine, but is this possible.........

If I connect up my 500gb WD Passport drive to the WDTV Live, which in turn is connected to my modem/router, am I then able to somehow share the contents of this drive over my home Wi-Fi network?

So if I connect to the home network via a standalone laptop, I can view all the files on the external drive connected to the WDTV (assuming it's switched on ofcourse).

If it is possible what have I got to enable on what to allow this type of sharing? a setting on the modem or the wdtv? or even the home network settings?

Thanks in advance

Re: WDTV Live Networking Question...

You should be able to see the share from any Windowz machine.
Just type \\"whatever IP Address your device has been assigned to", like \\192.168.1.2, in your Windowz explorer and enjoy.

Re: WDTV Live Networking Question...

It is seen as a media server by the network hence each attached disc drive's content is shared over the network.
