Smile Recommend me a media player

I’m after some advice regarding a hard drive media player that I can connect direct to the LCD via HDMI lead and play music, films both SD and HD, watch camcorder footage from holidays etc, view the many photo's we have and also use to back up all types of files I have on my laptop.
Ideally it should be user friendly and possible be able to child lock sections as required.

Totally new to me thus some explanation to your recommendations would be helpful.

Regards

Andy

Re: Recommend me a media player

I’ve seen the Iomega ScreenPlay 1.5 TB and like the idea of the size of the hard drive but I think there have been reliability issues with it, can anybody recommend this one or another similar????

Regards

Andy

Re: Recommend me a media player

thankx to those trying to help me but I think that I may have confused matters my self with my initial request for help, just to clarify:-
I want to transfer movies (SD & HD), music, photos & camcorder footage from my laptop direct onto 1 box that will allow me store them and play direct from this box connected direct to my Samsung 656 and Sony 820 via HDMI and then sit back and watch / listen to the files stored on it.

Hope that clarifies things as I think some of the recommendations don't have a storage capacity.

Regards

Andy
