HDMI problems on asrock ion 330

Hello,

I have an asrock ion 330 installed with the linux distro of XBMC. However i can only use the vga output correctly. Off course i prefer the HDMI output, but when i connect my TV (Thomson) to it, the image is on the right part of the screen. The left part of the screen is not being used. Cant move mouse or whatsoever to it, it seems there allready is the border of the screen, but it is halfway of where it should be. Resulting in losing the other part of the output.

So it looks like the complete image is shifted to the right. Cannot find anything on the internet about this, so i hope someone can help me here.

Greetings.

Re: HDMI problems on asrock ion 330

Very likely its an issue with the EDID from the TV HDMI connection combined with a compatibility issue with the display driver or the TV is doing something weird.

1) Check your resolution options in XBMC does it offer 1920x1080@50Hz or 1280x720@50Hz etc if so try those.

2) try the alpha 9.11 release and see if the problem persists (though this has its own bugs)

3) Report the problem in the XBMC Live forums and see if anyone can offer a permanent solution, if its a TV problem then nows the time before the next official release.

Did you get this sorted or come across any other Asrock 330 owners with the same issue?

...put the XBMC output to AUTO and see if XBMC finds the most suitable output for your screen....

the resolution xbmc picks is the correct one, however the whole screens is stil not in the right place. It has something to do with my tv, because when i take my asrock too a friend of mine, it works perfectly.

I had this problem on a pc running ubuntu to a 22" monitor, a quick press of the auto adjust button on the monitor fixed that.

Does your tv have anything similar, it looks like an issue like I used to get with analogue signals not synching properly on devices.

Nick.

You mean that i need to select auto in the settings, under resolution ?

When I do that the image is still shifted.

@VoodooChild410

My TV does not have such setting. At least I cannot find anything like that in the normal menu settings.

...then (as previously suggested) - it sounds like a 'SYNC' problem...

Set XBMC output to 720 / 60hz or 720 /50hz

I also had this problem with a Thompson TV...with Windows 7

I fixed it by using 59hz rather than 60, however I still have a wierd problem, the screen widens at the edges and is compressed in the middle, it looks like I'm loking at a convex mirror and can't find any fix.
I know it has to be the TV but it's fine with an 8800GT card so the ion graphics must be complicit, hope this helps!
