PCH sounds awful FLAC and MP3 since firmware upgrade

I've just upgraded to Firmware 01-17-091022-15-POP-403-000 and NMT version 00-17-090115-15-POP-403 and suddenly the audio from FLAC files and MP3's sounds distorted boomy and trebly. Movies still play fine. I am using an Onkyo AV receiver and have tried HDMI and optical connections but no difference. Any ideas please?
