Which Player - Output Simultaneous Composite and HDMI Video

Need a Media Payer capable of Outputting Simultaneous Composite and HDMI HD video.

Anybody tried this?

I have tried it on the WDTV live - It outputs one or the other but not both.

The Asus O!Play for example outputs both simultaneously. (Sound too.)

Re: Which Player - Output Simultaneous Composite and HDMI Video

Thanks Guys.

Just to be absolutely clear (Somebody told me the same for the WDTV, I bought one, it didn't )

So they will output composite SD and an HDMI HD picture at the same time?

If this is the case I'll whip my out flexible friend again.

Tried the WDTV Live, I was told that would do what I wanted, it didn't.

I've ordered an ACRyan PlayOn Mini from Scan. It's a brand new device based on existing model, but it will output on HDMI, Component & Composite. They are also trying to integrate YAMJ into the firmware which will be a bonus, so I have high hopes.

According to its own FAQ ....
"Can Playon!HD display simulteneously more screens each on its various video output connectors? ....
Yes, you can connect 3 TV screens each on the HDMI, Composite and Component video output.
The Composite ouput will display in PAL/NTSC (auto) irregardless of resolution settings in the Playon!HD. This means you can set Playon!HD at 1080p/60Hz for your LCDTV connected on HDMI, and on your Composite output you can connect a 2nd (cheaper? older?)TV screen irregardless what resolution it supports. For Component output, the output will be in the resolution set in the Playon!HD."

Hopefully I will get one as soon as they are available and I'll update this thread.

I can confirm that the ACRyan PlayOn Mini does indeed meet all my requirements.

And also that the HDMI works with the Arcam AVR600, the WDTV Live did not!

Hope somebody finds this helpful.

re: output to both HDMI and composite....

..I've got a Mk1 WD HD TV .... output to my LCD TV via HDMI and output to my Samsung video recorder via composite cable - enables me to record to DVD or HDD direct anything that the WD TV is playing back....

No Problems - works flawlessly......

Excellent post I have been looking for something that does this (simultaneous HD and SD) for a long time - what's it like ? does it also down mix dts so you can have dts via hdmi and stereo with the composite output ?

Cheers
Toby
