Not a Bad little player pity its not its bigger brother the HMR - 600H Damn fine player that one,its basically another Asus,Acryan,Hisense,Emtec etc etc Realtek player.Very small indeed and has been out in Germany and Russia for some weeks with a few Firmware revisions coming out to,Users seem to like it and Networking is as good as Asus,Was reports that it gets a little warm but only the same as other players. The GUI is slightly differnt as per the link at the bottom and looks like its bigger brothers interface which is very encouraging as
nice to have a Realtek player with a quality menu system.
Check link below for Pictures of the Interface. If this is priced right..Might be a fine player indeed but With Hisense at £66 and Asus At £ 80 it needs perfect pricing Pete lol..Pete Wheres my discount vouchers..

While it's a different layout from the Hisense, it doesn't look functionally any different. What they all seem to be missing at the moment is some kind of Media Library functionallity.

You got to Understand is most Maufactures are using Realteks primary User interface and only a few are tweaking the software involved and Any tweaking is most Helpful to the user i like Ellion`s other players they brought out and im hoping they but a lot of effort in to this as they did with them..Including the Media Libary.

It looks like they at least moved the preview window so text wasn't constrained to one side of the screen like in the default Realtek GUI.

The only others to have done that are Xtreamer, Seagate & m8diator.

re: Ellion LABO-110 Cheapest DTS MKV Streamer (formerly LABO-100)

also you only get the preview on the item you want

so goto the item you either press enter/ok to preview the movie or |> (play) button to play the movie - you can double press the enter/ok button to also play the movie.

also there is a NEW firmware next week with a NEW GUI not sure what they are changing.

looks pretty cool. i realise its ANOTHER realtek, but if its cheap and its small i'm sure loads of people could sneak it into their av kit without too much trouble.

so when can we expect it instock at scan?

Come on £50

The guys in the Xtreamer thread cried niagra falls when I mentioned that these players should really cost around the 50 quid mark

All we need now are the next phase of killer media players(hopefully next year). This round has been good but not perfect

I want to see the next NMT ones, seems to be a dearth of those recently, are they due?

I love the YAMJ interfaces of those.

Think you spot on my friend £50 for a number of these may well be the price point next year..Realtek/Sigma have dropped the prices on these chips recentley to,As per the next genaration of NMT Players they will be in a very difficult market as maufacturers have to compete with companys producing there own developed Kernels and do they really want to pay someone else to develop for them in a crowded,Tight and growing marketplace...

Plus you have other chip maufacturers coming to market next year so the
fully formed XBMC Like media player will become a reality in 2010 and the lines between what is a pc and media player become much closer together.

Right ive been speaking to them about the cost and hmm they wont be that cheap they cost more than that after paying all the extra cost (Shipping/DTS licence/+14% import tax/etc...)

The target RRP at the moment is going to be about
£75 inc VAT ex vat (£65 ex vat)
but at least is still cheaper than the Asus one.

but that price is only available if i take a gamble and buy x500 units (which is a lot for a brand people dont know that well .eg its not popcorn,WD or ASUS which is better known) so until they had been tested i wont order any and then its a 6 week shipping time to get stock via seashipment or a higher price for a airshipment.

Unless i change the RRP to £80 which is £69.56 ex vat and then i could take a smaller amount and see what you think of them.
but then its just the same price as the ASUS Oplay and we might as well just sell that one. as the Oplay already has Blu-ray iso support and more features.

Last edited by PeteB@scan; 11-11-2009 at 10:42 AM. Reason: import tax

Well the network port is essential. The piano black looks good!

The good thing for me about this one is the small size. But I agree, taking 500 is a big risk.

Still think that its a very reasonable price Pete as its 99 Euros everywhere in Europe and the player does look like having very good support and the fact they have gone the extra mile with there interface really does look like it has a future And remember Asus have only promised firmware support till April which is a bit daft on there part if its true.

As for the name nobody new of Popcornhour/HDI/Hisense etc..Its what it does and the support it gets and Quality of the product.

ah i only said April as thats all the firmware road map goes to - but of course it will be support until the model has nothing left to fix or of course phased out with a new model.

Ellion labo 110 (Black)

With the ever growing list of Media Players/Streamers hitting the market Plus the growing popularity of such devices its a mine field for New/Old buyers to pick that perfect player for there
all around ability to play/stream all the files that they need them to and give as much value for money that can be squeezed out of them.
So here lands a Tiny(And I mean Tiny) new Realtek based player Produced By Ellion a German based company who no strangers to making media players.. Another one you say and where does this sit between Say the WD LIVE At one end and The Hisense at the Cheapest end of the market,Well price wise it sits between the Asus and the Hisense 800 so it is very well priced.
But lets test the little Beastie and see What we actually have here and how it performs or doesn't.

Lets open the Packet and See...

Well its Tiny..Minute a real portable player,Lovely Finish to the player will fit in fine with most A/V.

Setup Menu

So far so good,Love the HD interface,Bit slow on intial screen..But browsing and setting up are quick and in a common sense order,Scanning attached 320 gig Seagte drive(2.5 inch) is very quick and the usb device has no power supply but the Ellion powers it up no problem.

Setting screen is SIMPLES and have it set at 1080p 24hz and first large file 18 gig mkv plays bag as sweet as roses this is very high bit-rate pushing the high 20`s and it plays without a flaw.
Re-set the file to output just vanilla 1080p and you can see the scaling change and playback in both instances is most impressive as good as any other Realtek/Sigma based player. All MKVS
Played back perfectly..only one file a 18 frame monster(that was badly encoded and high frame rates means nothing by the way in terms of quality)the file would not play on the Asus/Hisense
to my surprise this plays with some brake up on screen but still plays..

Xvid/Divx/Mp4/Mpeg 1 playback sweet,M2TS no issues and files up to 80 gig are playing fine,TS Ripped Dvd`s playback no problem at all.

Mp3/Flac all play fine you have to back in the menu and change sound outputs and then all is good..right to Audio..

Dolby/Dts all Downsample through HDMI without a hitch, then i set up the Coxaial to my amp and
tried it with RAW and LPCM,Unusual to have a Cox instead of Optical out and sound quality i cannot fault and is as good as any player i own inc WD LIVE,Asus and Hisense there seems a bit more quality to the sound but to be fair need to test this more between the players i have and get a TRUE sense if iam hearing correctley...

If you want a player just to use with an External U.S.B And is quick to Set-up and plays all you need it to play this is by far the best for a quick and error free set up i have had the pleasure to try im IMPRESSED.
