Thumbs up PCH C-200 install, please help

Hi, I have placed an order for a C-200 and wanted to know if anyone could help with a quick step by step install guide please.
When it arrives I will install a 3.5 inch 1.5 Gig hard drive into the drive bay on the front.
Should I update the firmware before doing anything else, if so to what version?
I hear it's best to reformat the drive and not to use NTFS, not sure why.
Should I download any software?

Newer versions of the firmware will be more stable so it makes sense to make sure it's up to date before starting. It may save some headaches.

Check on NMT forums where the most current firmware is linked on the front page.

All the popcorn hours are basically Linux devices which natively use the EXT3 format for hard drives and not the windows NTFS format.

My understanding is that the C200 can read an NTFS disc but can't write to them.

It depends what you want to do. For basic usage you don't need to download anything. You can get away with using just network shares, USB devices and/or a locally installed hard drive.

If you want fancy front ends like JAMJ or UMC and/or want to use the PCH for downloading torrents etc. then you will need to start installing software either on the PCH, your PC/NAS or both.

Re: PCH C-200 install, please help

Thanks for the reply,
I will just be using my PC to rip my Blu-Rays then transfer them over the network to the PCH then play them from there to the HD TV.

It looks (famous last words) like this is going to be easier than I first thought.

From another post it looks like I just:
Run AnyDVD to dump the Blu-Ray to my HDD
Then use tsMuxer on the largest file in the Stream folder
Select 3 files, Video, Audio and Sub-titles and select Output to Blu-Ray disk.
Then copy that new folder and it files over the network to a folder on the PCH

Check out something like ClownBD (on the Slysoft forums) which automates the whole process of producing a movie only rip.

A lot of Blu-rays don't have the whole movie in a single m2ts file. ClownBD will sort all that out for you.

And you don't really need to dump the whole disc to hard drive as long as you have AnyDVD HD running
