Stuttering on mkv playback?

This happens mainly on pans when watching on either my HTPC or LG BD390 dvd player. I have run the files through MKVmerge but there is no difference.

Can anyone help please?

Could just be the file and the way it was encoded ... What does mediainfo tell you ?

I have that exact same file and it plays perfectly for me.

There are a couple of places where the video pixelates due to the recording but that's it.

Hope you can resolve this as it's an excellent episode

Glad you find it funny

My TV is not 24fps so I'm assuming it's related to that. Is there any way to convert the file so it won't stutter during pans? This happens with all mkv and avi files at 23.976 fps.

I found the filename funny and wasn't laughing at the problem that you're having.

I played the file on my hisense to a non 24p TV and had no problems.

Are you talking about actual stutter or judder ?

Probably more judder i.e. pans are stepped rather than smooth.

Yep, best to shift your TV into 60hz ... Switch between 50/60 to see which gives you the best result.

I get the same effect on my TV when the hz is set incorrectly. My stutter free settings are:

23.976fps or 29.970fps: 60hz
25.000fps: 50hz

Well, on the HTPC it should be under Display Settings > Refresh Rate...
