...and the 18th title!!!!!

Not a classic game but job done.

Liverpool did push us but not enough to wrestle the crown from our grasp.

Rome here we come.

Re: Manchester United - Premiership Champions

Congratulations. Worthy champions. Overcame a poor start to the season but picked up steam, and over the next few months have ground out the results that have been needed. Turning point was the response after the defeats to Liverpool and Fulham. The recovery wins against Villa and Spurs showed the determination and desire

He doesn't qualify for one automatically. If i am correct a player has to feature in 10 games.

Re: Manchester United - Premiership Champions

Well done to ManU. they have not scored most goals, not conceded fewest, lost least or even TBH played the best football BUT when the chips were down they were able to take a beating and do enough over the season.

Shame for Liverpool, they did well but despite beating their main rivals home and away, drawing with Stoke twice and losing at Boro is ultimately what lost them the title. Ominous for next year that Chelsea may have the stability to really challenge for the first time in a while, Arsenal may buy in some experience plus get a decent injury free run and Liverpool may be able to build on a more respectable season. ManU may need to actually come out of third gear because that is what they have been in all year; winning the league at a gentle saunter rather than needing to out sprint rivals to the line.

Re: Manchester United - Premiership Champions

I wouldn't say it was the losses. Every team gets those throughout a season. It was the countless draws we failed to win, whereas Man Utd nicked the 1 goal winning margin

Alan Hansen's thoughts which holds some truth:

Quote:
I think if you take Liverpool's best team one to 11, they can compete with Manchester United, but the champions have the edge from numbers 12 to 20.

Re: Manchester United - Premiership Champions

fair play to liverpool , they pushed us well this year ( it wasnt good enough... ) but hey ho. Thems the breaks..

So thats 3 in a row ( again a fact ) for the second time becoming the first team to win a hat-trick twice ( another fact for you rafa ) .

Not the best game today but job jobbed.

Roll on the 27th

Congratualtions

just been reading a very good article on the bbc BBC SPORT | Football | Premier League | How the Premier League was won

Just a quick message from Rafa the manager who is cracking up

"We have done well. Clearly we are more consistent," he said.

"Once we were a team for the cups and the Champions League and now we can talk about being a team for the Premier League. That is positive for the future.

"We will now continue to do our job this season, and next season it will be different."

Anyway Congratulations to Manchester United

Si

Maybe next year Kop tho think both teams will want to go one ahead, should be an interesting season especially if Chelsea and Arsenal make a serious challenge.

Could next season be even tighter?, maybe, depends on what additions are made to each squad, consistency and strength of depth.

Re: Manchester United - Premiership Champions

It currently stands with Chelsea only 3 points behind the pool. 2 games to go and if they slip up Chelsea could claim second spot. What is the odds for Robbie Keane to score against the pool

Congrats to Utd who once more prove why SAF is the best manager in the world who continues to stand as the difference among the big four.

BlackCountryBob decided to ignore the results, the players and Sir Alex in deciding every victory and every draw, and all those last gasp reversals were planned out, hence gentle saunter

He did? The swine! In that case there was no need for me to upset my neighbours with my jumping out of my chair and screaming "YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! GET IN!!!!" extremely loudly when machdea scored the 3rd against villa..

If only i'd known i could have relaxed with a cup of tea and a buttered scone

Be careful how ungracious you are in victory, because some of us will remember it when you start to lose.

'mon the Toffees! Seriously though, congratz Utd, bit gutted that results didn't make the season be a nail-biter right down to the last game but was a good effort by Liverpool nonetheless.

Looking forward to next season already

Explain to me like I am a six year old how exactly a last minute winner is either planned or evidence of a stroll? To me, a last minute goal is proof that they were holding something in reserve and were able to force an opening when required.

Their best performances all year? Away at Inter in the CL, Home and away v Arsenal in the CL. Ths is ManU at its best, fast committed and furiously aggressive. I can think of few occasions when they needed to be this good in the league.

How many times have there games been book ended with the phrase "Champions achieve by winning when they are not at their best". It's not that they have been in bad form or playing poorly, it is that they are so strong and so much better than everyone else that they have been able to not give 100% in most games and still win.

Hence, gentle saunter rather than out sprinting others to the line.

You think that Utd were simply holding back against Villa and chose to score in the last minute.

You seem to be arguing that they didn't have to try as hard in the EPL as they have in the CL? If they had these kind of impressive performances at their command in reserve all the time why did they not summon them in either Liverpool game or against Fulham or killed off their multitude of 1-0 wins early?

I'm afraid your assertion that they have voluntarily not given 100% in most games is nonsensical imo.
