Ferrari Pulling Out of F1 Next Season

Its far more than that - Toyota, Torro Rosso and Red Bull have also verbally confirmed if the budget cap sticks around they wont be. Its frankly ridiculous for Mosley to expect the teams to scale back their operations to 40m - what does he expect them to do? Lay off 80%+ of the staff?

Just because Ferrari are the biggest name in F1 everyone seems to accuse them of having a paddy, but the other teams will be in the same situation. The FOTA (of which the ferrari president is also president) have already demonstrated their commitment to cost cutting, im not quite sure of the figuire for this season but i'd imagine its somewhere between 25-40% less expenditure. Its just the speed and scale everyones opposed to, as its clearly completely unmanageable.

None of the other teams have come out against the budget cap, pretty much all the complaints are about the 2 tier system, most of the things ferrari have come out against are about the 2 tier system too.

Ignore the x team threatens to quit because of budget cap headlines and read what the teams actually said. It's poor and misleading from the media in nearly all cases.

Well done to Ferrari for have the brass to stand up and be counted.

The points that Ferrari are contesting are more than just the budget cap. They also feel miffed, and rightly so, that the rules are changed without consulting the teams.

So far, Renault, Toyota, Red Bull and Ferrari have threatened not to enter into the 2010 championship if the budget cap is not resolved before the deadline for the 2010 entries, which if I remember is the 29th of this month.

Whilst I am all for cutting costs, allowing smaller teams on a reduced budget to compete with teams on the level of Ferrari et al is just madness.

I can hear it now. Lets spice up the Premier League by allowing the likes of Acrington Stanley to play Man U and Chelsea. Oh, and why we are at, Ronaldo's and Rooney's wages need to be capped at a Fiver a week. Would any footie fan in his right mind pay to watch that

Yep, Renault have also said they will drop out next year if the budget cap comes in. That makes it 5 teams now threatening to pull out. At this rate, next year will be F no-1

Surprising really they have chose this season to mention this spending cap, I've never seen a year when the lesser light teams of formula 1 have come to the fore.

a friend (f1 fan also) is a trainer on handset faults for tmobile... he had a gearbox guy for firce india on the fone the other day. he asked him about the capping and the force india guy said he thought ferrari renault and toyota might pull out at end of year if cap is enforced... bmw too i think... basically it was the car manufactures...

wow talk about taking an example to a ludicrous level, it's more like making sure Newcastle Utd can compete on the level of Manchester Utd and capping team wages at 300,000 a week

It seems its not about the reduced expenditure, unlike the media has said. Its more about having a 2 tier system were unless you are capped basically you wont be able to keep up with the capped cars.
From what I can gather the rules for capped teams can allow them to use flexible rear wings (big gain in speed and cornering), higher KERS boost, higher revving engines, freedom for testing, although they reckon cost for cost the wind tunnel is nearly as good.
Flavio also said that FOTA had come up with a plan to reduce costs between now and 2012 at a rate the teams agreed on, but the Max and Bernie have ignored this and just introduced their system without any consultation with the teams.
If you was a team princicple and knew that you wouldnt be able to get into the capped scene before 2012, therefore knew you wouldnt be competing you would also pull out.

Im not a Ferrari fan but still think F1 wouldnt be the same without them. If Renault Ferrari Redbull which would mean Torro Rosso and Toyota pull out thats 5 teams, BMW may follow and I cant see Maclaren getting in the cap so you could have 7 teams pull out, if they get 3 new teams we could have a 12 car grid
Bernie would have to pay millions back to TV rights who have signed for a 20 car grid, sponsors would drift away and F1 would not be here.
