Re: The Masters, Augusta, 9-12 April

can't wait Augusta always looks great but even better in HD

Not sure who will win Woods is there but his irons are still a bit dodgy just now. Mickelson has had some form recently but is returning from being ill. Then you have harrington who has won the last two majors.

Struth, this weekend

That's Easter sorted then

Wish I had HD for this but will have to settle for terrestrial signals from the Beeb. Normally they're very good though and make ITV's football look live a 25 year old VHS

good stuff - woods, woods and did i say woods to win?

Going to back him just after the off as his odds will drift for sure. Terrible tee time for him on thursday (2nd last group out), greens will be spiked up but still think he will win.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. Nothing matters when they step out onto the green

And the man is the greatest pressure putter of all time

Re: The Masters, Augusta, 9-12 April

Just saw the promo on BBC

I'd forgotten they use Gary Lineker as their front man

I thought he was really poor last year. It was clear he was being fed and primed beforehand to enable him to fake his way through.
Several times he blundered and had to be diplomatically corrected. He was also guilty of telling the result of putts that had just taken place before we were shown them on camera.

Bloody BBC - It'll be Ant + Dec

EDIT - On the plus side: Just read that Hazel Irvine won't be there this year

I thought he was a keen golfer so would have been a natural choice for this.

He's not a natural top presentator (imo) though.

Pity Steve left the Beeb. He was miles better presenting the masters.

I can't wait , backed Poulter last time and got good run for my money so thinking of going that way again this year but may leave it till after the cut , oh well off now to check the betting.

tiger drifting slightly in the betting now but will give it another hour or so before backing him.

Lineker is awful - terrible presenter.

God, I love the Masters. It's like the unnoficial start of the season. Only got HD a couple of weeks ago, and I'm blown away watching the HD coverage. Agreed that Lineker is useless as an anchor but what alternatives has the beeb got? Hazel Irvine or Claire Balding . Tigers started off slow, but I still think he's the guy to beat.

oooo, didn't realise this was going to be on HD

I've got a few bets on this year

Harrington and Ogilvy E/W bets for a couple of quid each just to make it more interesting!

Re: The Masters, Augusta, 9-12 April

what is it like in HD?

Happy with Woods' start today - couple under, plenty in the tank.

Could trade out of my bet already and make a profit on woods but happy to leave it for now.

Shame we will see very little of him today as he is an early starter and not on the live coverage later on BBC as he will finish about 7pm or so ourtime.

should be starting about now on BBC if you press the red button

Was looking at Woods in the bookies yesterday, his odds were at 9/4

Re: The Masters, Augusta, 9-12 April

Halfway through and Chad Campbell is looking good. A disappointing day for the Irish who were all in contention to post good scores but back nine collapses for McDowell and McIlroy knocked them back. Pleased that McIlroy wasn't disqualified so hopefully he'll just go out and enjoy it now and push for a top 20 finish.

Harrington is looking steady, but I think he was very unlucky to be penalised the shot due to the wind moving the ball. He is playing well enough to get to about -8 for Sunday, not sure if that'll be enough though.

One of golf's more pedantic rules led to Harrington being given a one shot penalty

On the other hand, The N.Irishman is quite lucky in spinning a story

I haven't heard what McIlroy said, but I went to bed last night thinking he was out, and got up this morning to read that he came off the coarse at 4.15pm and was then called back to Augusta at 20.45. After another 4 hours it was agreed that no infringement took place.

My guess is a big bar tab for Chubby Chandler this morning.

I hope AC wins, seems a true gent. Though TW making a charge would make a neat finale, albeit a forlorn hope given the stroke difference.

Ah, its a pity the golden bear couldn't turn back the years, just for the last 4 days ....

How can the BBC get away with the constant name dropping of sponsers - Mercedes, ABN, AT&T and I am sure Ken Browne is geting a Rolex tomorrow - not that it really bothers me, just thought this wasnt allowed on the Beeb?

I think a lot of other countries use our commentary so i would assume the sponser names are for them or the BBC needs some more money

Wow. What a supeb display of sportsmanship and dignity in defeat. Some interviews afterwards were gracious and generous in spirit.

Some other sportsmen could learn alot.
