Teletext Tipster Pages

Can anyone on these pages verify (by use) that some/all of the outrageous claims being used on C4 teletext tipster pages (p689 etc) are actually genuine result's that you have won on?
I have looked at these many times and find them so hard to believe especially when graphic terms like, one colossal hit, his biggest bet of the season, racing certainty, treble your bet etc etc are bandied about like they never lose?
At £1,50 per minute for a grossly padded out call they are an expensive way to get your erm, inside information!! (and, before you ask, I have tried them before, thats how I know they are padded out!!) and, "they all lost" didn't read about that on there though!!!
So, anyone help out, have you genuinely won a constant tidy sum following them or, are they like all the rest, all mouth and no substance??
Would like to read of your experiences.
Many Thanks.

Re: Teletext Tipster Pages

If you think this service is anything other than a way to tempt you to phone at great cost to make a profit for the person running the line then you're sorely mistaken.

Re: Teletext Tipster Pages

Please explain then skytech, how will I be sorely mistaken, what point are you trying to make? (telephone cost is not the issue here by the way).
I am asking whether anyone has made a profit from these pages, personally, as stated, I never have I am hoping someone can show that there is a winner out there/somewhere who does benefit from them?
Pure curiosity, I dont have cash to waste anymore, £30,000 to £6,000 kind of does that to you!!
Thanks for the reply though, appreciated.

Re: Teletext Tipster Pages

my brother in law tried this for a while . he got a few winners but not at very big odds. my advice is to leave well alone. read the racing post tipsters and you will see that not even these so-called experts can tip winners that often.

Re: Teletext Tipster Pages

You have to ask... if it's that good a bet - why tell the world about it..

I've spent fortunes on tipping services, and learnt over the years that the price quoted is not actually available for that long - so you have to be very lucky to get it..

Now I do a fair bit of trading on the exchanges with a modicum of success - but not enough to pack the day job in I'm afraid!

Exactly TC, but it is that "gilded" tag line that always get's you interested!!
When the constant outpouring of quotes like, "were you on" "what a run" and "dont miss this" are constantly on display (prominent in most cases), they are hard to ignore but, as is always said, there is no such thing as a free lunch?

I dont doubt that the operators of these pages "are" in the know to a certain extent, but as you've said, why tell everyone else, as long as those hefty priced winner's have "their" money on, why should they care if the information they give out is duff, a couple of the occasional good thing,s thrown in to keep you sweet and keep you phoning will do the job, after all, if it goes wrong who can you blame?

Bookmakers can read and I'm sure are well up to speed on these activities and will watch the market's accordingly which is why, as you say, you never get the quoted odds?

I guess if winning on horses was as easy as picking up the phone and finding out what's going to win the first, second and third, there would be only a short window of opportunity to make your life secure before the industry collapsed under the weight of losses!! We should remember that the next time the easy way out rear's it's head, nothing is ever that simple!!

Re: Teletext Tipster Pages

The actual sports betting guys who write for teletext are good.

Small but decent profits. Solid reasons as to why to bet on their choices.

I would tend to follow their golf and NFL tips and have always done well.

To an extent, it wouldn't surprise me if they deliberatly gave info out on horses they had either backed, or will back at high odds on the exchanges.. knowing that the price available would drop - allowing them to then lay back off and guarantee a profit..

thats just simple maths and playing betfair etc etc... but if you 'know' you can influence the price - then it makes life a hell of a lot easier!

Re: Teletext Tipster Pages

Slightly off thread here but I have to tell you this.
Got a letter today (11th) from a tipster via post, the claim, BIGGEST BET EVER, COMPLETELY FREE.
Quote; It's not a question of if it wins but by how far, this will be a full scale "MAXIMUM" bet, it's had "special preparation"!!
Once you sample the cream of my information in a max bet you "will" want to join my service, sit back, relax, watch it "romp" home, Max bet, it "WILL" win!!!
Ahh!!!! you beat me to it, of course it got stuffed, not even in the first three!!
Having sampled previous tipsters before, this was the old faithful "mug gathering" exercise!!
Somewhere out in UK land there are probably a hundred people whom tonight think this guy is the business and are awaiting his join up letter, as it was a 13 runner race, there are probably 1200 like me who think he is crap, the first hundred will pay dearly finding this out later on (if they join of course).
If your interested the horse I got was called SIGN OF THE CROSS and it ran in the 6,50 at Kempton, maybe someone reading this has had the same type of letter, if you did what horse were you given?
Pick your own, it's safer, trust me I know!!
