Thanks: Gave 109, Got 236 | Beckham - Proposed AC Milan move...
I hope this goes through, he still has much to offer as was proven on Wednesday, but how is this transfer allowed outside of the transfer window?
Or is it because he's already on loan? I assume that means they have to buy before the loan agreement expires.
Or is it because it's only a UEFA window & he's coming on from outside of Europe?

Be good if he can sort something out, I'm looking forward to the Milan derby on Sunday. He's a wealthy guy if his desire is to put his playing career above money I'm sure he can buy his way out of his contract if he has to.

This transfer is dead in the water according to LA Galaxy.
Beckham made a wrong move going to America in the first place IMHO. |

Please. Next you are going to claim he went for money and not sporting reasons!

Of course Beckham made a mistake going to America, but does anyone else think he would never have gone there had Steve McClaren not axed him straight away.
McClaren had a contract up to the 2010 World Cup, so you can't really blame Beckham for chasing a massive pay day when it was clear the England manager (at the time) had made his mind up to discard him.
Personally I've changed my opinion of Beckham by the way he has conducted himself recently. If every English player had the pride and passion Beckham has, you might even get to a semi-final.

Only thing I don't understand is why he was allowed to goto Italy in the first place it was pretty obvious when he got there that he wouldn't want to return, he's got no chance really of playing in the 2010 world cup if he can't secure high level football between now and then.

The only good thing about this whole boring saga is that the BBC saw fit to buy the rights to screen the Milan derby later tonight. Yes they will have done so because of Beckham but on the upside its the Milan derby
A chance to see Zlatan "Ronaldo probably crashed his Ferrari because he heard that he is the best paid footballer in the world" Imbrahimovic up close

Regrets: Beckham moving to LA for money
Regrets: LA letting Beckham going to Milan for money
Regrets: for both from different perspectives if Beckham has to go back to America because Milan will not cough up the money
Regrets: Beckham staying in Milan, MLS goes back to obscurity. Oh no wait, they get lots of money
Regrets: Crushing the spirit of the 2 soccer fans in America who find out it was all about money

i do believe Beckham went to the states for more than money; he owns a soccer school over there and i think he wants to give some more kids the dream life he's had by teaching them how to play football, and i expect he also wanted to go down in history as the guy who 'made' the MLS. Of course the money was a big draw, i mean who wouldn't agree to wages like that? (well apart from kaka, but man city are worse than la galaxy anyway )
Problem is, he signed for one of the worst sides in the MLS - and a winger isn't really the sort of player who looks good if no one ever gets on the end of his passes/crosses. If he'd gone to New York instead, i think he would have been a lot happer and more eager to stay out there. In the end though i think he realised that US soccer is too far behind the rest of the world for him to make a difference, and wants to cut his losses and save his career.

Good on him, bit of luck we won't have to take Bentley to the World Cup next year now. David Beckham will stay at AC Milan until the end of the season and will also play for the Italian giants for most of next season.
Under a unique 'timeshare' agreement the England midfielder will play for Los Angeles Galaxy between July and October before returning to Milan in November for the rest of next season.
It is understood that Beckham is so determined to stay at Milan that he will fund the majority of the loan fee being paid to Galaxy himself.
A spokesman for Beckham declined to comment but the deal is expected to be officially confirmed by the clubs later on Friday or over the weekend.
The deal follows weeks of negotiations between the two clubs during which Milan baulked at the size of the transfer fee Galaxy were demanding - thought to be around £12million.
Beckham's desire to play for a top club in order to cement his place in the England squad for the 2010 World Cup finals led to the 33-year-old effectively funding the unique loan deal himself.
The only issue that has yet to be settled is Beckham's position at the end of next season - under the arrangement he will only be on loan at Milan until then.
Under the arrangement Beckham will not have the sort of long break most players in Europe enjoy in the summer but he will have several shorter breaks instead.
He will have some time off before rejoining Galaxy in July, and then another break before returning to Milan in November.
He will also benefit from the winter break in Serie A and believes that will make him at least as fresh as any Premier League player when the World Cup comes around. |
