AV Forums - Golf day 7 - The Midlands/North

Hello AVForum Golfers,

I'm offering to set up a golf day for April/May near Winchester.

Please fill in which dates suit and we can get sorted.

The regulars from Manchester, Burton and Barnsley have already expressed interest so it'd be great if some forum members from the south could make it.

Anu questions, send me a message.

Look forward to seeing you all.

Dean

Confirmed so far

deanym
ultima
signs
Woodywizz
C225.

I think the two best dates would be 24th April or 29th May

I've checked out the usual suspects but can find anyone who flies from Ireland to Southampton.

re: AV Forums - Golf day 7 - The Midlands/North

There are loads of flights between edinburgh and southampton with flybe only problem is the charge for the clubs is more expesive than the ticket for me

Ps shouldn't this be number golf day 7?

Edit: I just voted for the days with the cheapest room at the travelodge in southampton. But the 24th of April date would be my Best date

Flybe go out from Dublin but the cheapest flights I can find are about £130
Flight times aren't great either as the earliest flight gets into Southampton at 10.15, so I'd need a 2 night stay.

Looks like I'll be giving this one a miss.

Thats a bit of a bugger a flight from edinburgh gets in at 8:15 and return is £55 with Clubs at £45 return

So £100 in flights about £30 for hotel for a night plus golf costs and night out costs. Doesn't sound too bad on price for me.

Dony. Ryanair do Dublin to Bournmouth for about 65 euros I think. A little further away than Southampton, but still close.

Don't book your clubs on when you buy your flight ticket, if you just take them to the check in desk with as your only piece of baggage they'll check them in as normal and ask you to goto the oversided luggage.

They never check to see if you've paid

I fly with BMI to Heathrow 5-6 a year with my clubs and I've never paid for them once.

67 euro for the flight + 60 euro for the clubs. I may as well pay full fare for them and set then on the seat next to me.

Thanks Dean for offering to set this up and I feel that us regulars need to make the effort to go given Dean's travels in the past.

Count me in - any date apart from the weekend of the 1st March when I will be at The Carling Cup final

Nice one Dean.

95% sure I can make it. Voted for all days apart from May 29th when I might be overseas.

Think the other days were:

1, Chapel en le frith
2, Burton on Trent
3, Manchester
4, Bridlington
5, Edinburgh
6, Manchester

So yep, this is Golf Day 7

With three votes max for any one date, fixing a date may be a bit premature.

South Winchester Golfclub

Please have a look at the link of the propose venue. All the dates are available at the moment. Can I have a clear idea of numbers, those who haven't voted who normally attend, please pop your name on.

Price will be approx £40 for the usual, bacon butties, 9 holes, soup & sarnie, 27 holes, presentation. We can have dinner at the golf club or in winchester/southampton depending on opinion.

Also, those forum members who stated they'd play golf if it wasn't so far North the previous 6 times, where are you?

Thanks.

Be good to see a new face.

No doubt when the snow as gone and holidays are booked and sorted we can set a firm date and get this moving along abit more.

If this course does not come off the Paulton course on the crown golf link looks a bit special imo. Rounds are pretty good value too.

BUMP for the golf.

It looks as if there are two dates more popular than others.

If we can confirm 10 poeple for one of those dates then I'll start taking deposits/full payments.

Please confirm on the thread which date of the two you'd prefer.

New attendees welcome.

re: AV Forums - Golf day 7 - The Midlands/North

I voted for all of the dates except for the last one but if it's any help, would prefer May 15th as opposed to Apr 24th as my Parents may be visiting me (from overseas) at the end of April ish so there's a slim chance that may clash (though i'd still do the golf - i'd just leave them a key if I was away)

Dean. Do you want to update the 1st post with definate names/numbers? Or just add total them up as the posts go on.

I think the definates are:

domtheone
deanym
ultima
signs
Woodywizz

Can peeps add to the list if the'yre a definate

re: AV Forums - Golf day 7 - The Midlands/North

I've added the names of those who've confirmed, and the two proposed dates then (we can't leave Ultima out) 24th April or 29th May.

If we can confirm one soon then flights will be much cheapness for those who have to fly.
