Thanks: Gave 40, Got 155 | Amir Khan Vs Marco Antonio Barerra March 14th 09
Amir Khan has landed a massive fight with former three-weight world champion Marco Antonio Barrera.
The Briton has been thrown in at the deep end by promoter Frank Warren just six months after his shocking first round defeat to Breidis Prescott.
Khan returned to action in December with a polished victory over Oisin Fagan after teaming up with trainer Freddie Roach for the first time, and a fight with former WBO super-featherweight champion Alex Arthur had been mooted for 2009

Barerra is well past his best but I think he will still be to good for Khan, Khan still has a lot to learn and Barerra should give him a lesson.

I had a tenner on a Bredis knockout in the 1st round last time, biggest amount I've ever won. Not sure about the result in this bout, think it's 50-50 depending on Barrera's form. Quick prediction Barrera to win in knockout or it'll go all the way.

I personally hope khan gets hammered. I think hes technically a good boxer but hes well overhyped, and im a big fan of barrera but as previously stated his recent form hasnt been good so i wouldnt be surprised if khan won and then went on to proclaim that hes beaten the best fighter in the world, yada yada, yada.

Khan should win this. Barrera has pratically been retired since the last PAC fight as far as I can remember. Barrera is to small for this weightclass you will notice that straight away.
Khan will have the speed and power in this fight. And even tho is chin is shaky Barrera wont be able to trouble it at this part of his carrer. Which we will say is the end of his career. Barrera will be getting paid an lot to take this fight.
Barrera even of say 2 years ago would easily win thid fight. Now it will be an far bigger test. His expierence will only get him so far. Barrera will he dig deep anymore to win an fight.
His last 2 fights PAC and Marquez he was virtually on the backfoot throughout. Thats not the Barrera I remember.

Nas was an small man compared to Khan. Barrera and Naz belong in the same weight class.
Barrera and Khan don't

true say, wasnt naz faster then khan?, i think for barerra the counter attack will work, even if it goes the distance and khan loses, he can still stand and say "hey i went up against one of the p4p boxers in the world and lost only on points" i think juan diaz, casamoyar or j-manuel marquez will be good fights for khan if he prevails from this

I don't know what to make of this fight, I really don't. This is so out of character for Warren. Barrera is far from shot and so far above Fagan it's not even funny.
Bigger/faster or not, Khan was troubled by a small light hitting Willie Limond (no offence Willie) and a shot to pieces Gomez had him all over the shop. The technical wizard that is M.A. Barrera will give Khan fits.
Very risky move here, perhaps Warren IS cutting his loses here. If Khan loses he washes his hands of him, if Khan wins his stock rises immeasurably. It also sticks him at the top of the Warren Boxing Organisation rankings which currently has Barrera there.
