Should the mods bring back the football club threads?

When 'social groups' were added to the forum, all the football club specific threads were all locked (ie the Manchester United thread and the Chelsea thread)

I think this has more or less killed football discussion, and discourages any rivalry banter, which has always been friendly, as the social groups aren't much cop and you have to join each group to post

With the new season coming up fast, i'd like to see the threads brought back - do you agree?

Re: Should the mods bring back the football club threads?

I thought it was a good idea to close the threads when the season finished but the new season is now looming and with transfers a go go at the moment i personally think they should come back!

Voted yes obviously. However I'm not against keeping them closed as long as we're allowed to discuss football as we have been the last 24 hours in a couple of new threads.

Re: Should the mods bring back the football club threads?

My last post 'disappeared' when I last voiced my opinion on this subject!

I honestly can't understand how the repeated "which plasma under £1500" and "plasma or LCD" (to name but a few) threads every single day are okay, as they should be I suppose. But a big fuss is made over a bit of footy banter and transfer specualtion.

Re: Should the mods bring back the football club threads?

I think the current Groups solution is very poor. I find it frustrating that the page reads from bottom to top, and if you want to all those unread posts, you have to start on say page 3, read upwards, then scroll back to the bottom to select page 2...

rubbish idea...

Re: Should the mods bring back the football club threads?

This one really doesnt cover any ground that hasnt been covered so many times before.

The footie threads were moved into the groups areas for many reasons, not the least of which was the nature of those threads at many times over the years.

The amount of complaints, and time taken to resolve those, plus many other issues were prime amongst those.

It was felt best to move them there to allow users a bit more latitude amongst other things.

Since this isn't new ground, this is now closed.
