WELL HAPPY

Liverpool have completed the signing of striker Robbie Keane from Tottenham for a fee that could rise to £20.3m.

Keane, 28, underwent a medical on Monday after agreeing personal terms on a four-year contract worth around £80,000 a week over the weekend.

I really rate robbie keane and think he will be a great asset to the team

he has done well at every club he has played for but i think playing with better players, i.e torres for one,will surely make him better than he already is.

nice to see rafa looking a bit closer to home as well as players with prem experience.

wonder if barry will be next?

Not happy in the manner Robbie has left us but good luck to him. He'll do well at Liverpool. Hopefully we can spend the money well and bring in a quality replacement.

I doubt you'll be getting Barry now though as there's not much in the pot for Rafa to spend.

Good signing, i rate keane but that price is too high it really is!

These transfers are becoming a joke with some of these deals! Id say hes worth about 12 mil IMO!

and Barry worth 18 million (not) ,its just the way of the market, if you want a player and he's under contract then you pay more.

spurs want 28 million for Berbatov ,is he worth that ,only because he's got a long contract at spurs and utd want him.

I'm sad to see him go. Great player for the club, double-figure goals in the premiership the last 5 years running. I wish him every success in his career.

But it's a great bit of business for us. And anyone retorting that football shouldn't be about business is being a touch naive. We can buy a great, younger, replacement for the money we have received. And Ramos prefers one up front, so not sure where Keane would have fitted in next season.

It's a big call by Benitez. Up to £20.3m in transfer fee, plus another £20m in wages over the 5-year deal (£80k a week) for a player that will be 33 at the end of the contract.

At the end of the day, I suspect both clubs are quite satisfied with the deal...

The bloke's at his peak so he's bound to cost a lot.

£19million+ on Robbie Keane, or £10m-£15m on someone who's never played in the Prem & no guarantee to succeed. I know where I'd spend my money.

It's a great transfer, we've risked far too much with money spent on the likes of Diouf & Cissé in the past - this is the exact sort of signing I've been craving for years..

I agree that he'll be a good signing for you. I can't see Rafa playing 2 front men so he'll have to play Keano "in the hole" behind Torres.

£20m is also good business for Spurs considering we got 6 good years out of him.

Only thing I'm peeved about is that fact Robbie declared his love for the club just over a month ago and was looking forward to a summer of no distractions.

I'm sure he would've happily seen out his career at Spurs, I think being the team he supported for life was the only thing that changed that, which you can understand - I don't think he would've moved for any other reason.

I bet he would have gone if Utd came in for him too.......and in a year or two if Celtic showed any interest.

If i remember rightly Ruddock took a bit of knock scoring that didnt he? I seem to recall the replays showing him holding his head when his team mates were celebrating with him!
