For those of you who refuse to buy into footballs spin.....

..............get this months copy of WSC.

It's an overview of Euro2008, and, as perhaps to be expected the views are generally dim of how the way the tournament was handled, and worse, the appalling coverage by the UK 'commentators' and so called 'pundits'.

It's view of the football is, as everyone else's seems to be, that it was a good tournament for both the standard and style of what was played. Marred only by the odd game, but then not every game of football (Sky take note) is a 'feast of entertainment'. While I don't share the view that was prevalent among the commentators, primarily because (*sigh*) there were top EPL players in the team, that the Spanish were that good, they were however a breath of fresh air after the cynicism that ruined the last WC final, and the, stolid, but effective Greek success at 2004. They did also play good football. As did the Dutch, Russians, Portugese, Turks (apart from 'that' game), Italians and Germans in small bursts, and even the Swiss and Austrians managed their moments. The only truly wretched side was, ironically, the Greeks.

No, it's not the football that WSC is having a go at, but the ugly jingoism of the English media, and the almost Orwellian organisation of tournaments by UEFA.

Have a read!
