F.A. Premier league 08/09 thread

This threads sole purpose is to discuss the weekends games and all transfer activity lets please keep this thread on topic no cut and pasting from news sites bit of friendly banter lets not ruin this oppurtunity for a dedicated football thread.

Football season is fast upon us and there has been some large transfer activity already, the iminent departure of ronaldo, scolari having bucket loads of cash to spend,Rafa having a tight budget again and arsene trusting in his scouting philosophy, spurs spending wisely in the transfer market and snapping up some young exciting talent Manchester City also having a huge amount of transfer activity it promises to be a great season.

And can anyone dethrone Manchester United for this years title

Will we see the likes of Villa,Spurs,Everton, pompey,City and others break into that elusive top 4

Sorry for stating the obvious ....

Why have you opened this thread when the forum has already split these discussions into the individual teams' social groups?

This thread seems to replicate those ....

well the social groups dont have the tools that the threads do and we can all post in here at the same time quoting posts and and seeing whats going on instead of jumping between social groups?

And i thought it was a good idea

Re: F.A. Premier league 08/09 thread

I agree Simon, its good to have a footie thread in the sports forums.

Personally, I'm fully expectant of another great campaign from United - with or without Ronaldo.

Also hoping that Liverpool get squeezed out of that fourth place

Re: F.A. Premier league 08/09 thread

Personally, i'm expecting another great campaign from Man U as well.

Chelsea and Arsenal equally so pushing Man U all the way.

Couldn't be overly confident picking a winner out of the above 3.

Liverpool, once again flattering to deceive.

The rest making up the numbers.

Hang on, wasn't the above the case in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007

Wage caps for 09-10 onwards and i'll be posting something different.

Alas, until then I forcast no change to the above

Re: F.A. Premier league 08/09 thread

you know im not just saying this because im a pool fan but manchester united lost more games than us last year and we scored more goals than anyone we may have been a little inconsistent but i could see the good in it
I cant see who manchester united could buy realisticaly to replace ronaldo either their seems to be a car boot sale at arsenal also and no one wants to go to chelsea

Re: F.A. Premier league 08/09 thread

Well done Kopchoir, the Social Groups are for random chat, if we actually want to properly discuss our league/team(s) - it needs to be in the forum IMO.

On tonight evidence, I'd rafher Rafa spent his budget on Silva than Villa. Torres plays better without an out & out striker along side him, Silva is the multitalented wide man we need. I think there will be a Premier League scrabble for both of them + the 3 big Russians. I see Villa staying in Spain though - Barcelona I should think.

I think United will have another good one whether he leaves or not, Chelsea is completely unknown - & I think Spurs will eventually do what they've been been tipped to do for a while - finish higher than 6th...Arsenal - all depends on what happens with big Ade, his goals last season, was their season.

As you can see if you followed the link above I agreed to the opening of a general Premier League thread as long as it contained only worthwhile posts, no general banter and nothing off topic.

You have proved that this will be impossible so I might as well close it now.
