What on earth is Santa Cruz doing at Blackburn?

How on earth did they manage to buy him - the man is pure class! Benni McCarthy is no muppet either.

Has off to Blackburn for getting players of this caliber, but how on earth they did it above the bigger teams is beyond me....

I am impressed by him too. I believe his best return in European Club Football (Bayern Munich) was 8 goals in a season...By all accounts this would have been a fair return considering he was far from a regular there.

Blackburn Rovers have somehow balanced the art of excellent transfer deals (Santa Cruz, McCarthy, Bentley, Warnock) with signings like Jason Roberts!

Re: What on earth is Santa Cruz doing at Blackburn?

Well he wasn't exactly setting the world alight at Bayern Munich. His time was hampered with injuries and competition for places which is probably why he only made about 150 appearances in 8-ish years. If he carries on with his current form though he'll be hot property in the summer and Blackburn will do well to keep hold of him.

Rumour has it that Jason Roberts has handed in a transfer request, I agree - he is pap.

Re: What on earth is Santa Cruz doing at Blackburn?

Santa Cruz did look good last night although we did allow him a bit too much room at set pieces. Blackburn have some good players and shouldn't be underestimated. Bentley, Gamst-Pedersen, Dunn, Friedel, McCarthy, Warnock and Samba are all quality players and add to them the likes of Savage, Tugay, Emerton, Derbyshire and they have the all the signs of a top six side. They've had a bad run recently but will come good again.

Because of John Williams (see pic) he's top class at negotiationing deals at knock down prices.

Other clubs were supposedly interested, mark hughes and his coaching staff watched him a number of times & decided he could offer us something upfront.
The guy has beem a breath of fresh air with his willingness to work hard for the team as well as his goals return .. top signing.
