Re: Sanchez sacked! Another one bites the dust!

You know what, when Fulham went on a spending (ish) spree in the transfer market they actually bought some decent players and i really did beleive they would be quite safe of the relegation this season.

There performances havent been what they expected and for once i agree with a sacking.

Southgate lives!!!

I think Gareth has been bookies favourites for "next for the "chop" since about day one.

John Collins is already lined up for the job. A footballer was in my brother's work on Wednesday and claimed it's done and dusted. He wouldn't tell me who that player was, though.

I wouldn't be so sure he's that safe, the 'borough chairman has apologised to McClaren and has been singing his praises, methinks something might happen there.

Re: Sanchez sacked! Another one bites the dust!

I said Sanchez was a fool to leave the NI job for Fulham on day one. Now, only a few months later, he's on the scrapheap, and it's unlikely after such a poor run that he'll be offered another 'top' job anytime soon.

Hate to be proved right, in particular when it means someone loses their job, but hey, there you go.

How cruel would that be for Southgate if he got the sack and was replaced by 2nd choice Steve

No chance I'm afraid. If Gibson was intending to sack Southgate he would have gone weeks ago when Boro were going through an abysmal time and the morale was at a low and the fans were booing rather than now when they look to be picking up. Gibson was apologising for the criticisms of McClaren's conduct that were posted in The Times during his time at Boro rather than his achievements, which seemed to be the context of the article The Times.

Allardyce has to be next on the conveyor belt surely.

Re: Sanchez sacked! Another one bites the dust!

I've absolutely no idea how Southgate ever came into the job in the first place. Don't get me wrong - he's a nice lad and all, but surely he should have served some time in the lower divisions ala Ince and Wise.....

Wouldn't suprise me if McMuppet returned....

As for Big Sam. Do you think he's wishing he had stayed put now? He'd have probably got his dream job managing England had he not moved to the North East....

Re: Sanchez sacked! Another one bites the dust!

I think the reason that Southgate got the job was simply because the interest Boro showed in other candidates; Venables and O'Neil fell through and Gibson was left in a situation where the beginning of the season was closing in and they wanted someone to become familiar with the set-up at Boro before the season started. I don't think he should have got the job, but he's here now.

Re: Sanchez sacked! Another one bites the dust!

It does seem strange that Southgate stays in his job whilst several heads are rolling all around him. Billy Davies has to be the unluckiest manager to be sacked this season, a victim of his own success than anything else.

Southgate also doesn't have the required coaching badges does he? Seems like he'll be next to go .....

Re: Sanchez sacked! Another one bites the dust!

I think he got his Pro Licence in the summer, not that it matters though, he was given the job when he didn't have the required qualifications and it obviously didn't bother Gibson.

I do wonder how long he'll have left though. He'll be supported in the transfer window to bring a few players in and even if Boro are to be relegated he'll probably still be here.

Re: Sanchez sacked! Another one bites the dust!

I too think Allardyce will be going next - the Toon Army are so passionate that they are not going to put up with the team's form for much longer. Seems that Big Sam can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear (Bolton) and a sow's ear out of a silk purse (Newcastle), as Newcastle do have some decent players.....all the fans want is Shearer in the big chair.

Re: Sanchez sacked! Another one bites the dust!

Roy Hodgson is the new manager on what has been stressed is a "long term deal".

I wonder could John Collins still end up there soon with Hodgson taking a more upstairs role.

If he is, it will be another stupid move by Newcastle Utd. Big Sam needs the time. He has proven with Bolton what he can do, I personally think the problems at Newcastle lie elsewhere.

Agreed. Like too many expensive waste of space footballers just biding their time in the hope a 'big name' will 'save them'. Not to mention 'that' board...............

I think Sam must be feeling the heat though.

Re: Sanchez sacked! Another one bites the dust!

Various newspapers are claiming that it would cost Newcastle Utd between £20-£50 million to sack Allardyce.

Clearly those figures are plucked out of thin air, but he's only six months in to a 3 year contract and paid £3m a year. It's all the support staff he brought in that would inflate the final figure, provided they were fired too.

I think Newcastle fans should get real and realise the best they will ever do is mid table mediocrity and an occasional cup run, whoever is in charge.

I think the figure also includes what it would cost to bring in another manager, his staff and an approximate transfer kitty that would possibly be demanded too.
