Thanks: Gave 259, Got 757 | I am proud to be the England Manager...
But it has to be shown in subtitles, because I can't speak a word of English... |

And?
He will learn the language. He is a winner with a proven record.
The English managers in the premierships are losers.
Harry Redknapp? Sam Alladayce? Steve Coppell? Yor having a laugh.
Capello will be excellent for England. Im very happy with this appointment and I'm not fussed if he's English isnt the greatest, he wiill learn.

During the press conference he didn't need the translator for some of the questions and learnt Spanish very quickly (by all accounts) when at Madrid so why shouldn't he learn English just as quickly?

Why else have an English team?
Coach foreign, coaching team foreign, why not foreign players?
Why is it xenophobic to ask why the English manager isn't English?
But not xenophobic to ask why the players are?

You were questioning his sincerity at being proud to manage the team because he 'doesn't speak the language.
As for the point of international football being xenophobia well no wonder we get morons booing national anthems or singing 10 German bombers etc. Usually people who are so moronic that they haven't worked out that it is generally counter productive.

Who is Brain Barwick anyway, has he played top flight football?
What gives him the credentials for picking the new England manager?
Who cares if he speaks English most of the players are so thick they can't understand English anyway.
If Pearce gets the job as back room staff it goes to show what a complete joke the FA are.

As for picking the manager well it was him and Brooking so I suppose one finance/media guy and one football guy.

magic!
i love all the comments that relate to Capello as a great manager with a proven track record......
yes at club level with world class stars.... time will tell of course but i think that the FA will have to look for another manmager over the next 12-18months again.... with seroius compensation/payout!
I do hope that he turns the teams fortunes around as its a wee bit embarrassing not having one britsh team in the euro's etc and we cant afford for that to happen again!
The problem the english national team will find is the lack of quality players they have..... simply because all the quality players playing in the english top flight are foreigners!

Well said HD... theres a big difference between xenophobia and being patriotic.
I love my country, but doesn't mean I have to hate/dislike foreigners. |

Might as well get Rupert Murdock to pick the next manager then.

As I said Trevor Brooking was involved and they consulted with people within the game so it's not a completely terrible way of going about things. Also having a non-football man in charge means less chance of the old boys network running things eg those certain ex-pro's in the media who would never criticise their mates.
It's not to say there aren't big problems with the FA for example the group who decided to sack McLaren including people from the local FA's. It's like having a county councillor help decide if we go to war.
By the way Murdoch is a success and if he ever was in charge of the FA I'm sure would make sure (through what ever means) that England won everything in sight!!!!!

Typical English attitude here, moan, moan, queue, moan, attack success, moan and more queuing.
Anyone else wanna moan? |

And actually, it was precisely this anti-foreign sentiment that lead to the appointment of that loser McClaren.
Do you people want to win something or not?? |
