Question Setanta-Arsenal-Newcastle United

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the number of Arsenal and Newcastle United matches shown on Setanta over the last few months? Looking at the schedules for Jan and Feb 2008, reveals more of the same. How can Setanta appeal to the footballing public if it is insisting on screening the same two teams.
It was refreshing to see Middlesbrough on the telly even though they were playing-yes you've guessed it Arsenal!
I have written to Setanta asking them why they seemingly focus on these two teams-surely they are going to lose customers?
Well at least this one!

Re: Setanta-Arsenal-Newcastle United

It wasn't until yesterday when I seen the Fulham vs. Newcastle game advertised that it occurred to me that they've (Newcastle) have had a fair amount of games broadcast on Setanta so far this season. I'm thinking maybe 5 or 6 including Fulham next week. Aston Villa have had a fair few too.

Does the package that Setanta won including an equal amount of games for each Premier League team or is it just random?

Re: Setanta-Arsenal-Newcastle United

I found a list of fixtures for up to the end of Jan 2008:

http://www.setanta.com/WhySetantaSpo..._fixtures.aspx

So by the end of this period Newcastle will have had 7 games, Man U 6, Aston Villa 5 and Arsenal 5. I think the lowest are Derby Man City and Boro with 2 and Pompey on 1. Hopefully Boro will get some more in 2008.

Maybe that means Pompey will be on Sky more than Newscastle? If so then that's good news.

Re: Setanta-Arsenal-Newcastle United

I'm not sure. I've had a look at the package that Setanta won (C + D I think it was) and I would guess that the matches they show are ultimately decided by the Premier League and their decisions on the fixture list.

Yeah, cos neutrals would pass up the chance to watch Arsenal's beautiful football in favour of Liverpools long ball snoozeathons.

Re: Setanta-Arsenal-Newcastle United

Man U seem to have been given loads, more than Newcastle or Arsenal (not counted exactly). Man City only 2.

Happy though cause don't subscribe to Setanta and we're on loads on Sky, most of our home games seem to be on

Really? Weren't you beat last weekend?

Back on subject, maybe there are so many Arsenal games being shown because they have their own channel starting soon on Setanta???
