Re: Sam Allardyce rules himself out of the England Job

I don't understand all the grief Allardyce is getting...You just have to look at Bolton to see the impact he can make as a manager given a good run at the job...the problems of NUFC were never going to be a quick fix with just a change of manager. It will be a long term strategy with him at the helm which will see you in the right direction. He hasn't even had a proper transfer window to make any changes yet...

Good.

If Allardyce were to get the job I'd go and support someone else, which is tricky given that England is my team...

I would disagree. He had plenty of time during the transfer window and spent his resources on players near retirement like Viduka or problem players like Barton.

This is what managers of a small clubs with no budget have to resort to. It's not the actions of someone trying to re-build a team for the future.

The quality of play and subsequent loss against Derby, who haven't beaten anyone else this season was disgraceful as was the shambolic performance against Sunderland where we robbed them of the full points by sheer luck.

I genuinely believe he is out of his depth now.
And - I think he knows it.
This is why I believe he publicly announced that he ruled himself out of the England job which he clearly wasn't going to be considered for.
It was just a device to put pressure on NU who who are beginning to recognise his limitations.

Phew! Thanks Steve I thought I was losing my mind! I watched those games and thought Newcastle were shockingly bad! The Derby game wasn't a top flight match. I've seen better in the old Division 3. Yet people are telling me that Newcastle are better than some Euro placed Spanish sides!

'Sam Allardyce' could not manage his way out of a paperbag!

And if the FA had to resort to him it would be time to get my coat and switch the light off on the way out!

: rotfl:

But hey, stranger things have appeared!

Most of you may be knocking the fat git, but i will tell you one thing.... if he had been given the job instead of McUseless 18 months ago, England would be going to the European Championships next year.

I agree but it's all comparative.

I'd (probably) beat Ann Widdercombe in an Elvis lookalike contest.

Q: Is it better to be McClaren or Allardyce at this very moment in time?

Sam 3-0 down
Mclaren £2.5m in the sky rocket.

I'll leave that to the experts on the forum.

Newcastle are rubbish tbh. One of the worst sides I've seen this season. So the scoreline is no surprise.

I think some of the comments may be correct. Big Sam is a 'small club' 'tough it out' manager, not someone who can take a 'sleeping giant' into the mix.

Which, quite frankly, rules him out of the England job.

Re: Sam Allardyce rules himself out of the England Job

I liked Steve Coppell's recent comments: he was "surprised to be linked to the England manager's job but was disappointed that everybody kept spelling his name wrong by adding an "O" to his surname."

As far as I am concerned, the best candidates would be:

Harry Redknapp
Louis Van Gaal
Guus Hiddink
