I am undecided on this, on the one hand, i want England to be in Austria/Switzerland next year as i have already booked the time off to go over, but on the other, i want Russia to win for the reasons you have already given.

The lowdown:
England's qualification is out of their hands. Their best hope is to finish ahead of Russia. But if the Russians win in Israel on Saturday, they will be one point ahead of England with one match to play - and that match is away to rock-bottom Andorra. England will not expect any favours from Andorra, who are on a run of 28 consecutive Euro qualifying defeats.

If Russia lose in Israel, then England need only to draw (or win) against Croatia in their final match at Wembley to guarantee qualification. If Russia draw in Israel, then England will need to beat Croatia in their final match to go through, given that a Russia win against Andorra is all but certain.

It was the Macedonia game that killed us , should have been 3 easy points . The luckiest of lucky goals in Croatia also put the knife in , we were coping 'til then. He seems to have learned that Lamps and Gerrard does not work , it should , they are both class players , but it does not so one needs to be left out . Thats been done to death elsewhere so won't go into it again here , jesus the russians have just hit the post .
He had a rough start , but before the game in Russia we had won 4-0 4 times on the bounce . He must have learned something .

Besides , its about supp , **** Israel have scored again

I have to say, what a superb game. I was on the edge of my seat for 94 minutes, respect to Isreal for playing their hearts out in a game which didn't really matter to them.

Loved the look on Hiddinks face at the final whistle.

Even better since i'm going on Wednesday, it's become a really important game all of a sudden!

Will probably going to win Euro08 now considering how you sneaked into it.

And how funny was it to hear the Sky commentator say, 'And a great start for England' when Israel scored, rather than 'and a goal for Israel'. In case he hadn't noticed, England weren't playing.

But I don't think that the media should let McLaren and the highly paid 'stars' of the 'best league in the world' off the hook if they manage to sneak in - they should not have had to rely on another team to help them qualify, especially in a group they should have easily topped a long time ago.

Qualifying is only papering over the cracks.

Not in qualifying they didn't. England couldn't even walk a rubbish group. They have needed other teams (and not very good ones either) to fail for them to do it. All in all, nothing to crow about.

What really makes me laugh, is they way one minute people are slagging the team and Mctosspot off for playing rubbish football and struggling against poor teams, next, we are certain to qualify and it's a 'fine line between success and failure'.
