One of the old guard of 'firebrands' Derek Dougan has passed away age 69. A great character, and one who never held back his views, both on and off the pitch, and a great player with it.
I only saw the Doog once, playing for Wolves in the mid 70's, and surprise, it was his usual mixture of great skill - and an off the ball bust up!
With so few characters left in the game now, guys like Dougan are representatives of an age when footballers weren't treated like they are today, they often had to fight tooth and nail at times to get a good deal, and in some ways it makes you wonder if that's why there is so few Keanes, never mind Dougans left.
RIP to a Wolves legend
